This statement is so far off the scale it must be satire.
I wonder if this lady feels this applies to her home. Also, does it apply in case of rape, kidnapping, or arson?

“In most instances the thief needs the money more than the homeowner does,” Meza reasoned. “The homeowner’s insurance will reimburse his losses. On balance, the transfer of property is likely to lead to a more equitable distribution of wealth. If my bill can help make this transfer a peaceful one so much the better.”

Re: THIS IS SATIRE, FOLKS!

It could be.

But, why are you so certain?

Texas State Representative Terry Meza (D-Irving)...

The left is not capable of honesty. It’s not in their DNA.

Our rights, are our property.

The property characteristic, is what the left wants to destroy.

The property characteristic, is one of our protections from authoritarians, dictators, Big Ego’s, elite bureaucrats, educrats, government, government officials, and you know the rest of the pro-tyranny-inclined.

She is not only insane but stupid as can be. Someone ought to start a recall movement against her, calling her “The armed criminal’s best friend” and list the names of innocent people who were killed in their homes by home invaders and burglars/robbers.

Show her to be the dangerous fool that she is.

I would like to make a friendly amendment, that any home with a state representative can be burglarized by an armed assailant and carry no criminal charge or jail time.

“Meza was quick to reassure that her bill “would not totally prevent homeowners from defending themselves. Under the new law the homeowner’s obligation is to flee the home at the first sign of intrusion. If fleeing is not possible he must cooperate with the intruder. But if violence breaks out it is the homeowner’s responsibility to make sure no one gets hurt. The best way to achieve this is to use the minimum non-lethal force possible because intruders will be able to sue for any injuries they receive at the hands of the homeowner.” “

This is STRAIGHT OUT OF EUROPE, where women are making all of the laws now.

“Where does she live?”

I would not be surprised to find she lives in a gated, patrolled community and has security herself. I think Victor Davis Hanson said that “the Left never has to live with the results of their policies.” That’s been my experience here in local politics.

The people running Tallahassee wanted to close two of the three roads running east/west through the city to force everyone to use public transportation. The third street would be reduced to just two of the present six lanes. Where do they live? North of the city. They would only have to pass one intersection on the third, open road, to get to work. They seemed shocked at the level of negative response they received. They did manage to severely restrict the narrowest road by making it a winding run between brick planters. (And, to put the cherry on it, they specified decorative palm trees in the planters that will have a hard time surviving winter temperatures.)

The doctrine “allows”,,,

No, current law makes it illegal for the government to prosecute the homeowner. There is nothing to prevent a homeowner from defending his castle law or no law.

After defending his castle the gov may prosecute, should the law be changed, but the law can do nothing to stop the homeowner.

Only prior physical restraint could prevent the homeowner from defending his castle so he choose to do so.

This has about as much of a chance as a state Income Tax. Blood would be shed.

Thieves only carry weapons for self-protection and to provide the householder an incentive to cooperate.

A return to the Black Codes which forbade a black man from protecting his family from the KKK!

Now they are trying to make it for all people.
