IIRC, Pelosi received a copy of one of the hard drives. I’m not sure which of the many written and videoed reports it was on...perhaps the one from the Chinese dissident. Anyway, I think the explanation was it was a message from the CCP: “We have evidence of _your_ crimes, too”
