Just had to LOL! The Bad News Bears have nothing on Free Republic.
Have to agree, though I have picked a couple decent stocks based on FReeper advice—wish I could remember who turned me on to OKE in April last year—it’s around +50%. This past year has proven the best year ever for me, though I have have little to “invest.” But, it’s better late than never.
My smart kids are all in Index funds—they’ll do much better than I. It’s so easy to diversify and avoid fees compared to the “good old days.”

You do of course realize that your Professional Manager was employed by you specifically to create gains and limit losses with your assets, right? In effect, you are employing a stop loss mechanism via a third party. Hopefully it is one you can trust, and not someone who "manages" your assets into vehicles which they are compensated for recommending/utilizing. I buy nothing from my financial adviser except his advice.
