Filled with perchorates

Make sure to bring a vapor distiller or a very good water filter...

These “discoveries” result in very expensive and redundant robotic missions to Mars that seem more about financing scientists careers than making real meaningful discoveries. At this point, the only mission I care about is sending a man to Mars.

They're not redundant and unmanned spacecraft and planetary rovers are what is paving the way for man. In fact these unmanned spacecraft have collected enough data in this solar system that it will be studied for decades. Man could never have done what these spacecraft have already accomplished.

Meh. I still stand by the dump trunk of grant money meme.

I see, so it's all about the money with you. Good luck standing there waiting for man to make discoveries all over the solar system, many discoveries which have *already* been accomplished and discovered by our fantastic unmanned spacecraft missions. ☺

While large challenges, e.g. the lack of a magnetic field, remain; the presence of water makes colonization of Mars much more doable.

Better?

BTW, when you combine the lack of a magnetic field with the almost complete lack of an atmosphere and dim sunlight, it’s apparent that it will be quite a while before Martians are found outside lounging beside a pool.

Like so many engineering solutions that would work on Earth; you need to go back to the drawing board. On Mars Moore might weigh under 150 lbs. (Mars gravity = 38% of Earth’s)

Liquid water - made up of Jimmy Hoffa, Al Capone’s treasure and Judge Crater, plus all of Hillary’s missing emails.

It’s the drill bit design invented by Howard Hughes Sr., the father of the eccentric aviator and movie producer.
