I get the feeling that the only Cubans you know live in Dade County?
The “First Wave” of Cubans that arrived in 1960 had mostly European ancestry. They were passionately Republican. Their children and grandchildren still vote Republican, but by smaller majorities.
The “Second Wave” of Cubans that started in 1980 (and continues today) has mostly Caribbean and African ancestry. They vote overwhelmingly Democrat.

The “Trust” meme is right out of DU. Trust boils down to an emotional issue. Most of us conservatives deal in facts. But when it some to judges “trust” raises its ugly head - as if that has something to do with some sort of actual opinion based on prior rulings.

I heard rumors on another thread that Lagoa supported AA. If true then that would be a non starter for me. I will leave this up the Donald....
She may be a Deep State Trojan Horse but she is definitely NOT a Catholic in any traditional sense of that word, because if she was she would NEVER a member of any Charismatic organization. Of course in my humble opinion the Pope is not a Catholic either!

My view is that any white woman who adopts black kids is “virtue signaling” (hey everyone, see what a wonderful person I am), and is most likely a racist, but not in the good sense.
President Trump should be suspicious of those around him making recommendations. How many deep state people have turned on him, too many.
He should trust Gov Desantis and Senator Scott instead.

I trust him too as far as his commitment to do what’s best for our country, but for whatever reason, probably psychological, he has made some horrendously bad personnel choices throughout his first term.
It is important that President Trump explore everything since he has a track record of trusting the wrong people at times.
In normal times Amy Barrett may well turn out to be an outstanding Justice and the better choice. And again she could be another Justice Roberts where scrupulosity clouds their judgment.
With Barbara Lagoa you have a sense because of where her family is from she understands the stakes at hand within the country and the importance her decisions will have. She is also the better political choice.

President Trump nominate Barbara Lagoa, trust your instincts. The establishment will let you down. The Cuban community won’t let you down and will help with locking down the Hispanic vote.

I’ve known Cubans all my life and have some within the family and I have met few people (outside Vietnamese) who are more ANTI-Communists than the Cubans 40+. They can smell Socialism miles away and are not shy about calling it out! Unfortunately I can’t say the same for most of the younger whites who have been brainwashed and indoctrinated in the public school systems.....
I would much rather he picks Ted Cruz and forget the female pandering.

Something about that bothers me too. A bit too much emotionality and “compassion”. Those qualities may be fine for an regular individual, but for a Supreme Court Justice I prefer someone that’s driven by the literal constitutional cold logic. I don’t want someone that melts too easily at every sob story before him/her.
For example I could see her going soft on illegal immigration.
