I see no reason to trust NYC voters, but the city was still nice when I was last there in the spring of 2016. After nine trips, I won’t be going back.
There just isn’t sufficient popcorn to meet supply needs for this election.
The communists already took it over.

Sometimes the best purpose you can serve is to act as a warning to others.
Perhaps that is NYC’s fate here. If this play works, the rest of America will quickly get a glimpse of exactly what AOC and those like her want to do, and they’ll quickly see what the reality of that looks like. Hint: it’s not all sunshine and roses. And people will suffer because of it.
It’ll be terrible for the people of New York, but perhaps it will save others from making the same mistakes.

It is already too late. I mourn for the place of my birth...though I must admit that I used all of my power and influence to get my parents to remove me from there when I was 1 month old. :>)
It is sad, but NYC has been thoroughly Leftist since the 1960s, with the only exception being under Rudy Giuliani. Rudy won because he heroically just about destroyed the mob in NYC and was Mr. Clean - vs. an utterly ineffective David Dinkins who had only narrowly defeated him 4 years earlier However, a large part of the voter base that put him in is gone - its been 23 years since his last election. Culturally and educationally, NYC has continued to drift Left, with effectively zero opposition. To expect the citizens of NYC to get out of this trap is naive...and all the more so with Republicans getting out of NYC as fast as U-haul trucks become available.
Anectdotal evidence of this in my own family is that I have a 2 uncles and an aunt who grew up in NYC (I won’t count my mother, but so did she); of their combined 7 children (ranging in age from 24 through 58), every single one is a dyed-in-the-wool liberal or Leftist...even though all three of my mother’s siblings moved out of NYC because of what the Left did to utterly ruin it DECADES ago. That it is worse now seems not to matter to them, so indoctrinated are they all...and they are, tragically, just an example of how the Left has managed to control education and the news cycle. No one with any curiosity, knowledge of history and honesty (all 3 are required) could possibly be a Leftist, but most people do not have all 3 characteristics.

Except, if there are no police or none are available, neither EMTs and firefighters will go on scene without police presence. So people will die needlessly and buildings burn - perhaps raising higher taxes will help - but that will drive even more people out
