It is outrageous how Cruz is treated on a conservative listserv
He is a powerful positive ally and successful advocate for conservatism. He has won cases in front of the Supreme Court. He shepherded the successful defense of Trump in the impeachment trial in the Senate.
But he continues to be treated with condescending disdain here at FR.
He is on Trump’s list of Supreme Court nominees.
If we are not willing acknowledge and affirm our best allies in individuals like Cruz then our side will LOSE.
That is a real shame because this personality nonsense is not germane to the issue at hand.

Besides- - Romney who voted for trump conviction sure as heck won’t Vote yes on nominee.... Mcsally and Sasse are on the edge....any close Republican Senate race will have to be careful not to give Dem candidates any mud to throw.... .even at 50-50..... Pence deciding an appointee will not be seen as “Democratic”.... but Rs should use thIs as a way to force corrupt democrat dirty deeds to set up the selection process immediately following Trumps win on nov. 3

You must be a Republican with your firm belief that the democrats can never fail in their strategy, that their efforts are inexorable, and that we must run like scared rabbits before their efforts.
I really doubt that was the primary reason, I think he was elected to stop the invasion, we just didn't know how much resistance from his party would bring to bear. Judges were a bonus that now promises to be a bigger deal.

I think the Appointment can be confirmed any time up to Jan 21 assuming the Republicans hold the Senate.

I don't disagree. Just pointing out that people are flexible in their opinions usually for real but not always. We don't however extend the same courtesy to Glenn Beck, strange that because he and Cruz were BFFs.
We have had much more success replacing Conservatives on the Court with Liberals than Liberals with Conservatives. Gump summed it up pretty well with the chocolates analogy.
This is what will happen:
1. Trump announces the nominee this week and M. McConnell announces a schedule that comes up complete, except for the actual vote, just before election day. The two commit this week that: 1) If Trump wins, the Republicans confirm Dec. 15, the day that the electoral college votes; and 2) If Trump loses, the
oops. If Trump loses then Joe Biden picks RBGs replacement.
3. Trump asserts, with good cause, that he must do this to prevent his nominee from being Borked. This is the only path that will keep the Dems from all out nuclear warfare.
