On another thread a Freeper noted that it would be great just to leave the SC @ 5 conservative and 3 liberal. It would come in handy for any election shenanigans by the dems where the SC is needed to settle any “legal challenges”.

But it is not 5-3. Roberts is a very wishy-washy conservative. Many think he is compromised by some information liberals have on him.

A 4-4 SC ruling on the election would lead to civil war.

Appointing a judge now actually DEFUSES the situation, like removing negotiation points for Middle East peace deals. Can’t get motivated to vote for the court pick if it is already filled.

After looking at the Senate roster this morning, I think a replacement could happen by the end of Oct now.

Give a the nation a week for mourning purposes, make the pick, schedule a hearing, perform the necessary votes, numbers might be there. Thune better start “whipping” the crap out of members right now to vote the line on this matter.
