O-H-o-o! Reminds me of the old flyer going around construction sites forty five years ago about the game and fish commission declaring an open season on “Porch Monkeys”.
And that is all I will say about it except you could not use pork chops or cheap wine as bait.
5.56 at close range as in under 50 meters will have an impact velocity of nearly 3000fps. At those speeds even FMJ rounds fragment after a few inches of flesh penetration. I have seen many a haj bleed out internally with only a icepick looking entry wound and a growing tick like bubble of blood in the.abdomen. takes only a few minutes to bleed out.internally that way. I personally load in my 7.5” AR 55gr TAP bullets they are polymer tipped designed to fragment at the reduced velocity of a shorter barrel. Fragmention after 5 inchs or so of penetration is ideal for short range self defense. The risks of pass through and a secondary blue on blue casualty is eliminated and wounds from fragmentation round are nearly always unsurvivable even with immediate medical attention. Most are DRT or in a few minutes DOS.
Regarding weapons possession by minors in Wisconsin, you should all READ the law closely instead of going by media reports and politically-motivated indictments. Wisconsin statutes state: 948.60(2)(a) “Any person under 18 years of age who possesses or goes armed with a dangerous weapon is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.” HOWEVER, a bit further: 948.60(3)(c) “This section applies only to a person under 18 years of age who possesses or is armed with a rifle or a shotgun if the person is in violation of s. 941.28 or is not in compliance with ss. 29.304 and 29.593.” 941.28 bans SHORT BARREL rifles (<16 in.) and shotguns (<18 in.) and the other two statutes pertain to hunting regulations. If the barrel of Rittenhouse’s rifle is at least 16 inches, he walks on the dangerous weapon charge due to the rifle/shotgun exception. https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/948
