Japan would be fighting way out of its weight category.
When I read this I thought of electric subs. Japan must have some good ones.
I've been promoting for years mysterious explosions turning the ruined atolls into so much rubble.
The Japanese Navy is more than a match against China. One of the best in the world, while China is still figuring out how to run a navy. The Japanese could easily stop China in an engagement.
Sneaky japs have those big-dam busters...
...allies with the Norks and possibly Iran.

Aren’t they just vassal states? How does either one actually qualify as an ally?
As you said: China really stands alone.
Not in a naval/air war.
The IJN would give an excellent accounting of itself against the chicoms if they go there. One of the best navies in the world.
Time to wake up that big lizard with the bad breath. He’ll stomp them Commies.
The USN put the Imperial Japanese Navy at the bottom of the Pacific.
China will hold itself back. War that would draw in the USA would have people rally around Trump and give him war powers. They do not want a strong, angry America lead by Trump. Maybe after he is re-elected They Might move. BUT each day they wait Japans navy gets stronger. Two points of danger. 1) When Japan launches a full aircraft carrier. 2) They change the name of the Navy to “The Imperial Japanese Navy”.
” the late unpleasantness of 1941-1945. “
As a Southerner and China follower I say “kudos!”.
These Chinese atolls make me think of France’s Maginot Line.
Of course the comparison is not exact.
Japanese stuff tends to work....
Imagine me on the Maginot Line.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Yes, it did, and after a terrific struggle. Check out the Solomon Islands campaign.
I know all about the Solomon Island Campaign. Check out the “Great Marianas Turkey Shoot’’. By the middle of 1944 the IJN was not the threat it had been two years earlier. keep in mind we had cracked their naval code. We always knew what they were up to.
