[They want to kill our forces when opportunity avails. Are they really going to “try harder” because of a bounty from the Russians they hate even more than they hate us?]

England and France were mortal enemies for centuries. They even fought something called the following:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hundred_Years’_War

People engage in alliances of convenience all the time. Having fought each other for close to a thousand years, beginning with the Norman conquest, the UK and France weren’t bosom buddies. They weren’t exactly friends with the Ottomans either, but they allied with the Ottoman Empire to prevent Russia from taking over every single square foot of Ottoman territory. Hence the Crimean War.

Note that the Ottomans had been fighting Christians for almost 600 years when the Russians invaded their domain. Yet they gladly accepted assistance from both the British and the French to ward off Russian advances.

Real life isn’t a Star Wars episode, where each ally is clamoring to take on more danger. In real life, allies want the easiest jobs but put out press releases claiming credit for someone else’s victory.

We allied with the Soviets against Germany. The Brits allied with the US against Germany and Japan, even though they knew that FDR wanted their empire completely dismantled. Countries make temporary arrangements because they want to do things without paying the entire cost themselves. What’s wrong with paying one enemy to fight another? The US is the primary country preventing Russian territorial expansion. For the Russians, Islam is a minor problem solvable via traditional Russian methods:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circassian_genocide
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deportation_of_the_Chechens_and_Ingush

The American challenge isn’t.

so where were all the “non-Comey-Brennan” group alphabet agencies on this? All 17 of them ? Why have they allowed it to progress and damage the country the last 4 years to the extent it has?

Comey and Brennan should NEVER have seen the light of day, much less be allowed to clog the system and occupy the press and the “resistance” as long as they have.

eff’ em all!!

And the new Antifa has its roots in the Baader Meinhof gang... Red Army Faction. The Russians deployed those assholes to disrupt NATO. They’re doing it again via Antifa, and the Chinese with BLM and Pelosi, Sanders, etc and others to disrupt Trump’s presidency. There’s nothing new here, it’s the same crap Reagan dealt with.

Why would Russia need to pay the Taliban to kill Americans? Isn’t that like paying Jeffrey Epstein to molest underage girls? In what way did this change their behavior?

It seems everyone who would know, denies this unsourced story from the NYT. Jeez, it’s almost unheard that the NYT would run an unsourced story that smeared DjT, right ?

Actually, stuff like this inoculates the Prez. from a sure-to-come October smear. They’ve cried wolf 20 times too many. Everyone knows to pay it no attention.
Thanks, NYT.

They’re nice to look at.
I’d get a Yellow Lab or a Rhodesian Ridgeback.

A real journalist---Catherine Herridge of CBS News--indicates the story is bogus:

Catherine Herridge @CBS_Herridge · 1h DEVELOPING: A senior intel official tells @CBSNews the GRU/Taliban bounty allegations were not contained in the President's Daily Brief (PDB) which is the highly classified, daily summary of national security issues delivered to the President, key cabinet secretaries + advisers..

The official confirmed the NSC has been doing “due diligence,” and going back through their files since the story broke Friday, and they have not found the “intelligence assessment” described in media reporting. The official said the review is ongoing, but given current...

So let neo-con pin-up girl Lizzie Cheney chew on that.

IN addition to giving the Afghans weapons and training is it possible we were paying them — either a salary or per dead Russian?

I suspect the answer is yes.

once again, so WHY are WE the PEOPLE paying the salaries, bennies , and retirements for 17 “alphabet agencies” who are demonstrably corrupt, ineffective/inept, or negligent?

The Comey-Brennan horse$%it should have been quelled and dealt with by 01/20/17

Of course, it is. There is not one dime's worth of difference between the two little globalist ghouls.

Lizie may be a tad more butch, however.

[Liz’s tweet is almost word for word the same as Adam Schiff, who is also pushing the NYTimes story.]

Cheney’s hoping she can ride this to the White House, but Trump brought this upon himself by being hyper-obsequious vis-a-vis both Putin and Xi. There’s a reason both doves* and hawks have talked tough about the national leaders of the country’s adversaries, while saying that their people are innocent of those leaders’ sins. Trump has set himself up for accusations of groveling again and again. He has been tough on both China and Russia for their bids to acquire land by force. However, instead of taking credit by talking tough, he has frittered it away by appearing to be submissive and almost servile in his verbiage, as if he were a panhandler at the end of a long line of favor seekers.

* The tendency of the Democrats is to talk tough while making concessions and cutting defense spending at every turn. Slick Willy and Obama were masters at this. Trump is the reverse - he talks like a guy on their payroll when, in reality, he is putting their nuts in a vise, and ratcheting up the pressure.

It wasn’t clear from my post, but my estimation of Cheney is that she is a bit of a Judas for bringing this up at this stage of the election cycle. I hope the next primary cycle sees her going down to defeat. I expect that is more likely if Trump loses in 2020.

Mentally Replace Everything Before “U.S. Intelligence Says” With “Blah Blah We’re Probably Lying”

As an aside, though, our alphabet agencies lied about “Russian Collusion”, and in so doing did a lot of damage to Trump’s foreign policy, besides paralyzing his presidency. He has little reason to believe them, and no reason to believe the press about anything. He should wait for confirmation from his military intel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Very cogent point.
