Kamala Harris warns 'it will not be easy' to get a conviction for Derek Chauvin as the white Minneapolis cop who 'murdered' George Floyd has his bail increased to $1.25M during first virtual court appearance (jurors are inclined to trust police officers)

That could easily be timed for the midterm elections in 2022.

A rational jury would not convict him on the grounds that he did not intend to kill the man, as the murder charge implies. As for negligent homicide, perhaps.
But you are not going to find a rational jury in Minneapolis.
Furthermore, the “justice” system has decided that the man is guilty and will go to jail for life.
It will be very hard for the cop to get a fair trial in Minneapolis.

We can trust police but not the bonehead HR clowns doing the hiring.

Since someone bothered to edit the video, there must have been an obvious conflict to the narrative.Perhaps instead of defunding police and building abortion clinics in black neighborhoods. The black leaders focus on good heart heart health centers.

Maybe that is the plan. They WANT him acquitted, so the rioters can burn down what’s left of the city

Not city- country. There are several American cities in ruin as of this writing.

I am not a lawyer. I think manslaughter would be an appropriate charge as would criminally negligent homicide if that were such a thing. My floyd undoubtedly had the same or worse combination of drugs in his blood in the last along with his structural heart disease but did not die until restrained on the ground. Once he stopped struggling and certainly after he arrested he was no longer a threat to the officers. I believe they acted with delta ed indifference to his life. Lawyers on both sides can argue it out but the tape speaks for itself and will be powerful when shown to a jury

It would be interesting to see the police training on restraints and chokeholds. If we use restrains there are very strict rules around initiating and documenting their use.

I think i a reasonable jury can and should convict of manslaughter. The prosecutor apparently thinks he can get a higher verdict. we will see Mr Floyd was no angel but her did t deserve the death penalty by cop or to die face down with someone sitting on his neck without the human decency to check if he was even still alive.

Especially once all 4 cop cams videos are viewed from before the incident to well after. Only thing right now is the most inflammatory possible video snippets.

Not murder two anyway. They should have gone for negligent homicide. He could still get up to ten years for that.

Jurors SHOULD generally trust a police officer’s word in a criminal case. It seems that common sense would dictate that. A case against a police officer should necessarily be difficult to get a conviction. Not impossible, but necessarily difficult.

That, and the fact 3rd degree murder is the appropriate charge. 2nd degree is a different standard and harder to prove with known facts

Kamala Harris is basically telling Minnesota AG Ellison that he overcharged.

It will be hard to get a conviction because he is NOT GUILTY of what he has been charged with. They have no case.

George Floyd killed HIMSELF!

Mattress-back Harris forgot to mention the deliberate over-charge selected by muslim Democrat racist Keithe Ellison.

“That is what is criminal.”

Just not in the LEGAL sense of the word “criminal”.

It “LOOKED” bad, charge him with MURDER!

“Knee on neck is prohibited because you can easily crush the windpipe like that.”

Actually, it is taught by and approved for use by the Minneapolis police department. And there was NO CRUSHED WINDPIPE.

I still think these cops are repulsive. No need to kneel on anyone after they have been cuffed, are lying on the ground, and there are 4 of you to one of them. But what you think happened did not!

As to the video.... I have not seen pointed out anywhere, that the cop seemed to lift pressure off Floyd’s neck many times. It looked to me that he was adjusting his weight on the criminal as to minimize or be sure the pressure was not excessive. Was this part of training?

Just sayin’.

.....” That is what is criminal”......

And therefore it’s up to Minneapolis to figure out and determine. It remains a local issue.

plus..do you know what kind of injuries would be on his neck...there was NOTHING...NOT EVEN A BRUISE...the video looks awful, but what you saw was a man die of a heart attack.

From the video, it's hard to tell how much weight was being put on his neck. If Chauvin was just lightly resting his knee on the neck and not stopping circulation, then the knee would not be the cause of death.

Your post should end any and all arguments that the officers did anything wrong. Well done.

......”They should have gone for negligent homicide”......

That was probably the worst they were looking at in the beginning, before the blacks took to the streets and created another Ferguson. As that escalated so did the charges.
