I think there’s a distinct possibility here that this judge is lawyering up because he’s about to spill the beans on something big. He probably thinks he being offered up as a sacrificial lamb so he wants to burn the house down before he’s completely ruined. Just a random machinations.
I thought he had asked Holder’s firm to help him out of the mess he created. What happened to that? The same firm that was representing Flynn to begin with which didn’t make any sense anyway!

During Flynn’s first scheduled sentencing, Sullivan raised the prospect that Flynn might go to prison for lying to federal agents.
