The issue is a combination of the poor state of senior health in this country and the rate of death by population in one country in particular: Sweden.
Multiply the population quotient of 330 (for 330 million US) times the Swedish death-per-million factor and you get roughly 127,000 deaths.
Just as a reality check, I think expecting the true numbers - even with protections in place for those at-risk - is of paramount importance to eliminate the manipulation sure to come from those who seek to use any spike in “cases” or deaths to reimpose restrictions...actions which only prolong the pain and postpone the inevitable (the number of deaths will be statistically the same, restrictions or not, without the means to defeat the virus or some form of immunity, herd or otherwise).
We now know that the general population is at greater risk of drowning than being harmed or killed by this virus.
LET’S GET BACK TO NORMAL!!
(that oughta trigger the trolls ;-) )
Uh, yeah, I was being a tad sarcastic myself. However, there are indeed people taking vacuum cleaner bags apart and using them to make masks. Lack of oxygen no problem...
A N95 mask (far better than anything the public is wearing) is certified to stop 95% of particles that are 3 microns in size or larger. The virus that causes Covid 19 (SARS-COVID-2) is ~1.25 microns in size. Even if masks stop the expelled water droplets in the air, the virus will pass right through the mask to the wearer or to the air.
These are facts, whether you like them or not.
