There was supposedly a rash of break-ins, which the shooter used as the reason to follow this guy with a shotgun. Was there a rash, and how many is a rash?

Have the break-ins continued after this guy got shot?

This was a terrible crime. I would blame the people who did this terrible thing while noting that this was an outlier to an overall trend of far fewer Americans being murdered than this time last year. They have been caught, they will face the justice system.
