Can the reactor be deactivated, and then started once again at a later date?

Do not forget that NY has an abundance of shale gas and oil....but Cuomo and the Democrats just made hydraulic fracturing ILLEGAL within the boundaries of New York.

Nuclear is the future, just not everyone has realized it yet Nuclear power (fission or Fusion) will never be realized in this country again if Demoncrats have any power in elected offices or in the bureaucracy>

That thing is 46-years-old!And it was within its design parameters to be able to run for several more decades!
You may get 25 years from a solar panel before it's no longer viable, 20 years from a wind turbine before the entire assembly needs replaced.

Any state that shuts down power plants deserves to freeze in the dark.
But this is just the beginning of the Endarkening of our former Republic.

And wind turbines need to be replaced in 20-30 years, and the multi-ton blades are not recyclable.

Actually, blades are being replaced at 10. Not from what I saw in California. It didn't look like they were being replaced at all, with most windmills idle.

Reason 408 why I’m glad I don’t live in NY and feel sorry for those that do. Utter stupidity by Cuomo.

The great windmill landfills. Nothing about them is reusable.
