Masks are useless anyway. It does have one use though - it gets the sheeple to self identify

I would disagree. If properly fitted and worn, masks can reduce risk but at the very least train some people to not bring their hand to their mouth or nose. Much like glasses can also help training some people to not bring hand to eyes.

Naaah.
Merely mord fake push polls from NBC. Believe them at your peril. NBC does NOT want the economy opened up. And they do not want the lockdown lifted. And they want the economy to be so bad that Trump loses in November. It’s that simple.

It is the retirees, disabled, and other “entitlement” receivers who want this.”

And the upscale telecommuters

They aren’t concerned about other Americans being stripped of their livelihoods, because 1) they’re afraid; 2) they can’t personally relate to the blue collar job-losers’ plight

It’s kind of like the “protective” internment of Japanese-Americans by FDR. Most Americans had no problem with this, because they were afraid, and they weren’t directly affected

No one said there is no cost to shutting down, but we can recover from a financial setback, but you can’t recover from COVID-19 Death. Those who are suicidal would suicide by some other trigger.

[[[People are being selfish to want out and it will take a toll.]]]

People are going to lose their houses over this among other financial disasters. There is no selfishness at all about it.

Do you think you will be ok finance-wise if we open in mid to late May?

Do not assume that we can just switch in the economy and it will function like it was functioning when we shut it off. Many elements of it will have degraded to the point that the flow of money to you is seriously impaired....or completely gone. People are not going to be spending the money that they were spending in February.

A government that can give the banks $6 trillion with a keystroke can pay everyone's mortgages for five years.

You are discounting the toll on lives by the shutdown. I don’t agree with your assertion that those who suicide would do so anyway this is the biggest stressor some will encounter in their lives. Then there are those who will die at home of treatable illness because they were too scared or lonely or isolated to reach out Those that die of covid are likely to get it and die of it no matter what we do - if they don’t die if something else first as most are fragile to begin with

I do not u defer and the failure to recognize the cost of the shutdown in human lives misery and suffering. And as far as the economic fallout it will not return to normal as fast as most seem to think. The damage is long lasting.

Voluntary restrictions are one thing, 24 hour curfew is entirely different and unacceptable.
When I go out, while observing all other protective measures, I don't need some dumbass cop breathing abuse and viruses on me.

I’m 72...my self isolation days are over.

Ditto... I will, however, be taking precautions due to underlying conditions. Besides, we will soon know the impact or non-impact of the brave souls' actions who have already attended the protests, walked crowded beaches etc.. This will likely provide some of the best data on the overall subject of whether to open up or not.

First of all outside the medical profession very few know how to fit and use masks. Second it has been shown once masks are saturated with exhaled moisture (about 20 min) they lose any protective qualities they have. I think i as many people reach up and fiddle with the masks as keep their hands off their faces when they wear one but whatever. Like I said they get the sheeple to self identify

Can you recover from a heart disease death? Heart disease kills VASTLY more people than cironavirus ever will.
Has anyone shut any economy because of heart disease?
Almost all coronavirus deaths are of people average age over 70 with preexisting conditions like diabetes, heart disease or old age. You are going to stop the economy any time some old geezer like me dies?
You think you will live forever? Is that it?

No they don’t. If someone is rude enough not to cover their sneeze then nothing will help. I like how the distance has gone from 6 to 10 to 30 feet. Maybe we should all live in bubbles? And by the way they just touched the produce you are buying after wiping their nose mask or not

The simple fact is this is a contagious virus that is widespread in the community. Those who are going to get it will get it no matter what we do or don’t do

“Then there are those who will die at home of treatable illness because they were too scared or lonely or isolated to reach out”

If a person has a health condition that requires medical treatment, there is not a single stay at home directive that prohibits them from seeking medical treatment.

who think this idiocy should go on indefinitely HOW they think people and businesses can possibly remain solvent
= = = = = = = = = =
The same people who are amazed at a thingy in your sink that takes care of your garbage.
Or find out that noise in the freezer is your thing making ice.

The same people who think all that stuff in the store is stocked by Elizabeth Montgomery twitching her nose.

The same people who want to shut down all truck traffic because they are ‘scary’ and all rail because they make noise at night and force you to wait for them.

The same people who ‘couldn’t survive’ without the cell phone telling them where the nearest gas station etc is.
Those are the same people that accuse the phone co/govt of spying on them because they send you a recap of where you were the last month.

There was a line in the old ‘Heat of the Night’ where the wife tells Virgil that he has to understand that in the South ‘they’ don’t care how close you get, just don’t get to big while in the North they don’t care how big you get, just don’t get to close.

If this is the same poll that was put up on FR, it is bunk as it will alienate along party lines because one of the ‘questions’ was if this stops DT will get reelected and another (unfavorable) about abortions being allowed.
That will split it on party lines by itself.

Remember, it isn’t always the answer that counts, it is the way the question is phrased....

I still think that PDJT has to sign an edict ORDERING EVERYONE to inhale and exhale every few seconds.

The percentage of never trumpers assuming room temps would bypass the percentage of beerflu deaths.
OF COURSE, ‘they’ will count the self inflicted as beerflu victims...
