Of course the only rational thing to do would be to simply shut down the nation, place the military at every intersection, and shelter in place for 12-36 months until we can hope a vaccine will be developed. Because “if we can save just 1 person...”. Because death is not a part of life, and the CDC guidelines for classifying COVID deaths are not all encompassing any and all symptoms as a COVID death; the flu that has killed 132,000 this year (until they started lumping flu deaths in with COVID) is less than the 82,000 COVID deaths around the world. Yep.

I have heard about success with the HIV antivirals, this is good for people who cannot take hydroxychloroquine. My sister is not able to take hydroxychloroquine.

If you’ve visited the Daily CoronaVirus thread on FR, many of them are still there and they’re not backing down much. They’re starting to talk more about supply chain problems because we’re not getting goods, medicines, etc from China. They’re still advancing the “I prepped. I’m ready for the ensuing chaos and deprivation” theme.
Yes, I’ve seen it. It really depresses me that a place that’s been part of my world for 20 years was populated with so many paranoids. It must be horrible to go through life like that. The sun never shines and the birds don’t sing for those people.

What I am seeing is the daily coronavirus thread has been hijacked by Doomsday Preppers! If you look, may of their posts are talking about tips for food preservation, etc.
Now don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with prepping. I ‘ve done it for the last few years. I keep extra jugs of water in the house, try to keep a small surplus of foods, try to keep my gas tank topped off as much as possible. Because sometimes you never know when the brown fecal matter might hit the fan - example, a tornado, disease, job loss, etc.
But some of what I’m seeing in the coronavirus thread has been what seems to be a bit extreme.
The chicken FReepers, fear purveyors and panic porn addicts have already moved on to negotiation: CV can re-emerge; CV can show up in new hot spots; CV has residual, long term effects; supply chain problems will create riots, etc.
If you bring up the now obvious fact that CV is not - nor ever was - going to overwhelm the HCS in a catastrophic cascade of systemic failure, nor will there be mass shortages along with transport system shutdowns, then the FearBros quickly transition to anger.
However, if you know/understand human nature, it's all part of the normal cycle of grief, when cherished beliefs or hard felt desires are forced to face & confront reality. That's when the inevitable depression sets in, before acceptance is finally realized.
At that point, new FR handles are created, as the former IDs are retired to the dust bin of history. And so, a new era dawns with fresh new personas ready to march into the world.
