They seem to have been in very serious condition at the start of the drug regimen. One died. 2 of ten did become virus free after five-six days.
India is giving it to ALL first responders and medical personnel who might be exposed to the virus, as a preventative. In fact, it is a decree they are now following.

There is not a thing stopping you. Call your doctor and ask for a prescription. If you really feel you need it and he won’t call another one. People have been telling you folks this for days. If you can’t get it, it ain’t the fault of any doctor or pharmacist, it’s likely because it was all bought up by people who fell for the hype. And the way this was rolled out smells to high heaven.

I just a few moments ago received the following via email from a friend in Virginia:
INFORMATIVE:
The following is from a Prof in infectious diseases at Johns Hopkins University, quite informative.
* The virus is... not a living organism, but a protein molecule (DNA) covered by a protective layer of lipid (fat), which, when absorbed by the cells of the ocular, nasal or buccal mucosa, changes their genetic code. (mutation) and convert them into aggressor and multiplier cells.
* Since the virus is not a living organism but a protein molecule, it is not killed, but decays on its own. The disintegration time depends on the temperature, humidity and type of material where it lies.
* The virus is very fragile; the only thing that protects it is a thin outer layer of fat. That is why any soap or detergent is the best remedy, because the foam CUTS the FAT (that is why you have to rub so much: for 20 seconds or more, to make a lot of foam).
By dissolving the fat layer, the protein molecule disperses and breaks down on its own.
* HEAT melts fat; this is why it is so good to use water above 77 degrees Fahrenheit for washing hands, clothes and everything. In addition, hot water makes more foam and that makes it even more useful.

* You have to Moisturize dry hands from so much washing them, because the molecules can hide in the micro cracks. The thicker the moisturizer, the better.
* Also keep your NAILS SHORT so that the virus does not hide there.

I struck the name of the Professor, and her daughter at Johns Hopkins noted at the beginning of the article due my own uncertainty of transmitting their names over the internet.

The author has the same name as the losing plaintiff in the above case.
I want to see the study because it’s my understanding that these drugs don’t fight the virus directly but lessen the immune response of the body which is what causes the pneumonia that least to ARDS which leads to poor ocygenization, which is what leads to death.
Because it’s the hyper immune response in some patients, not the virus itself that leads to ARDS.. now I am very much a layman on this, but I haven’t seen any published statements by anyone claiming these drugs kill the virus.. but Keep the body from over reacting to it so that the patient doesn’t go into ARDS and the persons immune system clears the virus on its own.
I happily yield to folks more knowledgeable than me.. but is this study claiming no better outcomes for patients given these drugs or just claiming it doesn’t kill the virus?
Much of this debate in our media appears to be centered on semantics.
Having read a fair amount of stuff and listened to some doctors with good reputations we must all start at one point.
HCQ is NOT a cure. There is no “cure” and there likely won’t be until we either develop a vaccine for those without anti-bodies or “herd immunity.” We have never “cured” a virus to my knowledge.
HCQ appears to be a promising treatment for coronavirus that can (and has) reduce the mortality rate as it dampens the viral “bloom” that is creating pneumonia in severely ill patients resulting in their intubation and subsequent death from pneumonia. It can help you recover faster and lessen the chance your lungs get overwhelmed and you end up on a ventilator with a higher likelihood of death.
If it is an effective treatment (and it appears to be) that can prevent this viral bloom or mitigate the impact of the viral bloom on the body (primarily the lungs) and help people recover faster it will be an important step in mitigating this pandemic.
At this point, if I am diagnosed as positive and become ill I would certainly ask for it based on what I have read and heard with the understanding that there are no certainties it will work. It appears to be far more effective if administered early in the infection as it can lessen the severity of the illness by slowing the replication of the virus. This is how it is described as an anti-malarial. It does not “prevent” you from contracting malaria - it lessens the severity of the illness.
Feel free to bash this as it is only my semi-educated understanding of it.
