McCain was the only POTUS candidate I can recall who endorsed his opponent for the office.

Worst choice in the history of the republic. It was a choice of who does the most damage, a great arsonist or a lousy firefighter. Turns out it was a great arsonist running against another arsonist disguised as a firefighter.

I think lots of reluctant Democrats that will end up voting for Trump will end up splitting their vote for Senator as a check on that. Maybe I’m wrong.

I actually agree with Dick Morris...and that has me quite concerned. I guess that the old saw about a stopped clock being right twice a day applies here, at least I hope it does.

Of the two, Mccain was way worse at the top of the ticket. GOP did horrible in that election cycle.

Republicans could have a super majority and still find a way to screw it up.

It’s not really a faith in the American people. It’s a faith that people, by and large, don’t knowingly vote against their self-interest. For most Democrats, almost all independents, and virtually every Republican, a vote for Sanders would be disastrous. And Sanders doesn’t have the subtlety to hide this.

20% of Democrats will eagerly vote for him. Another ~40% will vote reluctantly for him. The rest will stay home, or even vote for Trump. Almost all independents, and all Republicans (essentially) will vote for Trump.

Translation: absolute blowout.

People did not vote for Trump because he was a Republican. They voted for him despite the fact that he was a Republican. (A bit of an exaggeration, but this was certainly true for a lot of voters). Trump will never have much in the way of coattails, because the Republican party has done nothing to make up for decades of betrayal. Trump will win easily. But Republicans are on their own.

How about Reagan vs. Mondale? EC votes for Mondale - 13.

Obama never had to run against an incumbent. An incumbent running for re-election in a half decent economy is unstoppable.

In 1980, Reagan asked the voters a simple question: “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?”

Every re-election since, the challenger asks that same question, and unless the answer is a resounding “No!”, the incumbent wins easily.

In 2020, the answer is clearly “Yes”.

Pollsters got 2016 wrong because there was not an incumbent President running for re-election. They won’t get 2020 wrong. Around September, pollsters will give up any wishful thinking or agenda driven “analysis” and begin predicting a Trump win.

They already know he’ll win and they will go on the record saying so to preserve their credibility as political analysts.

I could not stand the phony charisma of either Bill Clinton or Obama, but people fall for that in droves. I’m always amazed at how people fall for that and mistake that for leadership.

You are right about Sanders having no charisma. He is the quintessential old fart screeching at the youngsters...but they are lapping it up.

Now I am concerned. This nitwit is likely wrong.

In case people don’t really understand what you are talking about.

McCain in debate standing up for Obama.

I saw it as endorsement.

Romney kept the same mind set too.

These two were so bad, I decided that they were fake candidates.

You and me both, brother. McCain acted like he was running against Palin. We still almost pulled his sorry carcass across the finish line. He probably would have done as much damage to the Republicans as Obama did to the Rats.

Those young folks standing with sanders, want the free he offers... they won’t get it but it sounds good. Those kids must be from the parents who gave him/her everything and didn’t have to work for it. After all, parents want their children to have a better life than they did.. and parents think the way to do that is to give them everything and don’t expect them to work for it..

How many got a brand new car at the age of 16 and parents paid for the car... the insurance... and the parties that went with a new car. How many had a job at age 16, even if it was mowing yards.. saved the money and eventually was able to buy a very used car, which you took pride in because it came from hard work.

Kids given everything want everything.. bernie offers college loan paid..... but like castro when he got the power.. you will be his slave and you will have no rights except what he says you can have.

That worries me. If Morris thinks Trump will crush him it likely means Bernie will win 34 states.

Our oldest was a very hard worker from a young age, always getting babysitting jobs, then, at 14, worked at the local boathouse and cafe. Always had a wide variety of jobs during college. Excellent work ethic. She’s a successful professional in her early 30s now.

Yet, she is a Bernie supporter. Go figure.

She has always been a know-it-all and always knows how other people should lead their lives, what they should drive, where they should live, what they should eat. That fits right in.

“McGovern style landslide will not happen again. Too many give me free shit voters out there.”

Agreed. Huge demographic shifts since those days and quite locked in to a certain degree. Modern presidential elections come down to select precincts in select states.

Sounds like she is a self starter, sufficient and hard worker.. also must value her freedom.. ALL that... and I do mean ALL that... will be gone if a socialist is elected as President.. if bernie, or his type, is ever elected... the younguns that stand with him... can kiss all their free days gone!

Socialism beliefs are “you can’t have more than I say you can have and all your work has to be shared with everyone else.. you don’t succeed, you work for those who won’t work and you will not complain... for we SHARE and if you work hard, you have more to share.” And there is only one master.... the socialist elected is the only master... he flies in private jets while you will be lucky to ever get on a plane.. there are the haves and there are the havenots.. there is the master and there are the worker bees....

What don’t they understand? It’s “I will believe what tickles my ears”.. truth or lie.... and from the socialist, it’s the lies... smart up... wise up... there is no utopia on this side of Heaven!
