“I’ll give you my meat when you pry it from my cold dead hams!”
You can eat venison to reduce your contribution but that wont effect anything as the number of cattle will remain the same as required by market forces.
It is very important to note that that free range contributions by cattle is far less than penned/stock yard fed cattle. That is because the natural pastures and soils absorb and sequester methane as manure decomposes naturally. Of course deer are 99% free range.
Transportation costs and contributions, often cited by locavores, are pretty much nil, far outstripped by the contribution by ruminant wastes. Poultry and pigs contribute very little.
90% of my red meat diet is venison, so I am doing my part even if it doesnt mean a damn thing.
This is an outrageously erroneous article.
Forty six percent of the total emissions from food came from the diets of just one-fifth of the population.
So that means that 4/5th of the population account for
64 percent of emissions. Tell THEM to stop!
They’re claiming that the cows that make up our diet generate the green house gasses; methane. Wikipedia says that methane makes up 0.00087% of the total atmosphere. That’s barely measurable. It doesn’t take an engineer, well......
1. The assumption of this article is that the author has some say in what people eat. It’s a lie. He has no such power. Nobody has that power. This is simply one more leftist trying to tell us what we have to do while he does as he pleases.
2. “Global warming” is nothing but a hoax to try and defeat capitalism. There’s no global warming benefit to be harvested from switching diets.
3. It’s true that eating meat causes more carbon emissions. However, it’s not because of how much carbon meat protein releases when processed by the digestive system. It happens because meat production adds another step to the food chain.
Scenario A: Humans eat non-meat agricultural products.
Scenario B: Animals eat non-meat products, and humans eat the animals.
It takes many-fold more non-meat agricultural products to drive Scenario B, and that is responsible for this idiot’s rant.
4. I don’t care. Humans are carnivores. If you want good health then stop eating non-meat agricultural products. Otherwise look forward to a life of illness and suffering.
Want to avoid catching the Wuhan flu? This is your best chance.
Put a sock in it lady. I’m not giving up my steaks and burgers.
Great web site/tool. I’m there a couple times a day in the winter powder hunting...
I guess it’s steak night. I always celebrate when these petty mini-Bloomberg tyrants try to guilt normal Americans into obeying their whiny demands.
If you choose the projection tab “E” then you see the entire globe as a flat 2D prespective. Good way to view the whole planet at the same time.
Is this saying that 20% of people are responsible for 50% of farts?
In my family, that statistic would be true
“those people eat a lot more meat than the others, especially methane-spewing beef.”
Why does everyone mention broccoli as causing farts?
I love broccoli and could it 3x a day. It never makes me fart. I wonder if it is because I put lemon juice on it?
Broccoli, butter, salt n pepper, and sprinkle with lemon juice. Good stuff and fart free.
Ray Manzarek, keyboardist for The Doors, composed “Oh Thou Precious Nectar Filled Form: A Little Fart.”
Golly, does that mean I have to give up my hamburgers, chili, sloppy Joes and steaks? Oh, the pain. I resist!
there’s an a**hole talking sh*t behind my back again...
and his breath stinks...
Will this be viewed as comedy once the next glaciation starts and everything north of Pittsburgh is under a mile of ice?
It’s beer for me. I mean it has trillions of tiny CO2 bubbles that are just dying to find freedom in the atmosphere. And they frequently do.
Yeah, my grandma thought she didn’t fart either.
She probably didn’t.sarc
