Suppressors are already registered with the ATF.
They know who has them.

Put them in a safe deposit box in another state and let them waste their time looking for them.

First of all, how do they know who owns what?

Suppressors require a $200 Federal Tax stamp. To apply for the stamp, you must get the head law-enforcement officer to sign off on your application if you apply as an individual instead of a corporation. So, yes, in states where suppressors are legal, LEOs do know who owns what.

All that sounds good. But those that try using that line when the King’s Men knock on their door will find themselves in the same situation that the old Germans faced when Hitler’s Men went door to door collecting guns. To wit} “ Our records show that you own this or this and that. When we leave, we are leaving with our records you own or we are leaving with you”.

I hope they’re prepared to confiscate oil filters as well.

Oh, don’t forget the solvent trap adapters for those oil filters: https://gunthreadadapters.com/

I know someone who has numerous filters for Ford vehicles...who doesn’t own a single Ford. :>)

Well this explains why all my friends in Virginia own fake dogs full of tanerite.

Purchasing a suppressor requires Tax stamps, ATF approvals, FFL records, etc. I’m sure the State authorities can get their hands on them since it’s for such a good cause and will prevent the vast number of suppressor involved murders.

Sounds like an opportunity for the president to be just as helpful to these sanctuary states as these states are to ICE. Withhold the records.

Wouldn’t they still need a warrant?

The VSP should answer this: “For the years 2000 through 2019, what is the average annual number of homicides committed in Virginia by means of firearms equipped with sound suppressors? Provide a comprehensive list of cases included in your figures.”

Thing is, if you have to fire your weapon to protect yourself, you’re screwed.

Sounds like an opportunity for the president to be just as helpful to these sanctuary states as these states are to ICE. Withhold the records.

The ATF Form 4 - Application for Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of Firearm requires local law-enforcement approval. They already know who has them.

From the ATF Form 4 - Law Enforcement Notification. The transferee must provide a copy of the Form 4 to the chief law enforcement officer (CLEO) who has jurisdiction over the area of the transferee’s address shown in item 2a of the Form 4. In addition, if the transferee is other than an individual, a copy of the Form 5320.23, National Firearms Act (NFA) Responsible Person Question naire, completed by each responsible person must be provided to their respective chief law enforcement officer. The chief law enforcement officer is considered to be the Chief of Police; the Sheriff; the Head of the State Police, or a State or local district attorney or prosecutor

This is the point of Suppressor registration, so they may be confiscated when it is desired they be confiscated.

There is no significant amount of crime committed with suppressors/silencers.

The idea there is a "public safety" reason to register or ban suppressors/silencers is factually false.

Hahaha. Yea, okay. Knock on the door with no warrant and ask people to politely hand over something?

Who do they think they are FDR taking people’s gold?

The Virginia State Police are not noted for knowing what the hell their oaths mean or liked by anyone in Virginia. Most I have met are pure aholes compared to city/county law enforcement officers. All of my contacts have been in DUI roadblocks, they are arrogant, rude, hostile jerks and no I haven’t been cited, DUI tested or anything, just picked this up in my interactions with them at road blocks compared to other law enforcement agencies. Their only rivals for being horses asses are the National Park Rangers. My sister lives in VA and is a nurse and she can’t find anyone who likes VSP.

As posted in this thread earlier, when they kick down a door and shoot a citizen I suspect their numbers will dwindle quickly because they will literally be out numbered where ever they go to employ their gestapo tactics.

In KY you are not required to let them inside your house during a tax assessment. The last time they assessed my neighborhood my father-in-law as alive and he noted their arrival, knew what they were doing measuring and taking notes. They rang his doorbell and identified themselves and said they were ready to come inside and conclude their tax assessment, that he had to allow them inside the house. He said if you can produce a warrant fine, but KY law, he cited KRS statue, says this is voluntary at this point so if you don’t have a warrant get the hell off my property and slammed the door in their shocked faces.

After Harris v. US, felons cannot be compelled to register their (illegal) firearms, due to 5th Amendment protection.

So, yes, gun registration is only aimed at locating the guns of law-abiding citizens.
