It's in the article.

The lawsuit names the board of education, former Principal Casey Crouse, former coaches Vincent Colbert and Eric Wallich, and former Athletic Director Joe Doody as defendants.

Also: The four teens involved were charged with first-degree rape, attempted rape and conspiracy charges. Their cases were tried in juvenile court, with proceedings closed to the public, so their pleas and sentences are not known.

Small tear in the rectum, and someone can die from the resulting infection. It’s happened many times in corrupt jails and other places.

Now throw in coaches who are basically teachers working extra hours,

Not on a team with annual national title hopes and traditions. Those guys are professionals who sometimes work extra hours in the classroom.

I played two years of junior varsity football. Good natured horse play was pretty normal. Damp/wet towels snapped to the buttocks or back of the legs (never to the front), replacing a guys talcum powder with flour (flour cakes talcum doesn’t), changing locks on a locker and that kind of thing.
If anything started to get out of hand the team captains were on it like white on rice.

The coaches were in and out of the locker room and always had their office door open. If things got too loud we would find a coach demanding to know just what in the wide, wide world of sports was going on.
If things got too quiet the same would happen.

A different time.
We didn’t know how good we had it.

Abner Louima (born November 24, 1966[1] in Thomassin, Haiti) is a Haitian man who was assaulted, brutalized, and sexually abused in 1997 by officers of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) after he was arrested outside a Brooklyn nightclub. His injuries were so severe as to require three major surgeries. At first the police attempted to cover up the attack.

Ping!

Horrifying. But based on at least one of the kids I knew from there 20 years ago who went to a good private school two counties away, I’d say this situation has deep roots in that community.

My Dad went to this school. He graduated in 1962. What a shame that his alma mater descended this low.
