I completely agree. The person or persons who discover a cure will be unstoppable. There aren’t enough evil people to keep it from being known, used, and celebrated.

Researchers at Cardiff University that were in the midst of analyzing blood from a bank accidentally stumbled into an “entirely new type of T-cell” according to The Daily Wire.
Scientists In Britain May Have Just “Accidentally” Found A Cure For Cancer.

The new cell carries a “never before seen” type of receptor that acts like a grappling hook, latching on to most human cancers. The therapy has already worked on lung, skin, blood, colon, breast, bone, prostate, ovarian, kidney and cervical cancer cells.
“This new type of T-cell therapy has enormous potential to overcome current limitations of CAR-T, which has been struggling to identify suitable and safe targets for more than a few cancer types,” said Professor Oliver Ottmann, Cardiff University’s Head of Haematology. Trials on terminally ill patients could start as soon as November.

The only concern I would have though is right now our government is so insanely corrupt, just look at the crap Trump has been going through, and I would imagine if a cure did come forth the cancer lobbyists would be pressuring the hell out of these scumrats in Washington to crush that cure as cancer treatments are a multi- billion dollar business.

_____

There is that to worry about.

I’m open to what you wrote and looking into it. Perhaps I’m just cynical, but I believe it wouldn’t be the pharmaceutical companies that are necessarily withholding a “cure”, but perhaps the corrupt federal government. We know the FDA hurdles are enormous and there are long-standing treatments available in other countries which are not allowed here, even for terminal patients, before President Trump helped with the right to try.

But from thr Big Pharma perspective, I must ask if a cure for cancer would even sustain long term profitability (I know, crazy right?). It would have to be expensive to replace all the current cash cows with countless facilities and multiple treatments per patient. All those people, buildings and equipment wouldn’t be needed. It’s nice to think that the pharmaceutical Industry is creating drugs for altruistic reasons, but they are commercial capitalist entities that run on profit like all businesses, just as you said. Are they going to make the cure affordable enough for everyone to have access to it (not govt paying for certain groups), or will it be so valuable that very few could afford it and choose the more affordable standard “Classic Chemo” instead? It’s a very interesting topic, but what do I know. I’m just some guy on the internet.

By the way, IIRC, Steve Jobs chose “alternative medicine” rather than traditional Western medicine until it was too late. Pancreatic cancer like my uncle.

Yes, Jobs did not seek out a traditional cure because he knew it would not likely be successful.

Cancer is an awful thing. Our good friends 20 year old son has brain cancer now and like everyone I have lost countless loved ones, friends, and people I admired to it.

I hate cancer and would love to see a breakthrough immediately of any kind that would improve treatment. There will not be any way to keep something like that secret nor would it be in the interest of the government to do so considering they pay for the health care of tens of millions through medicaid/medicare and the VA!

I don’t know what the economics of the drug or treatment will be, but I am sure it will not be any more expensive (or insane) than the current regime.

Pastor says coronavirus is a 'plague sent by God to purge a lot of sin off this planet' and blames parents 'transgendering children' for the outbreak

* Two days ago you responded to the above headline with the following comment, “great... another pastor and his delusions put on display so people can call them whack jobs...”

So you know this pastor is delusional for his bizarre ideas, YET YOU THINK RUSH'S CANCER IS AN OMEN.

Sounds like you and the pastor have a lot in common. ;-)

By the way ……..

(An omen is “an event regarded as a sign or a warning of good or evil. An omen (also called portent or presage) is a phenomenon that is believed to foretell the future, often signifying the advent of change. ... These omens include natural phenomena, for example an eclipse, etc. )

An “omen” is a portent, a sign or a warning that something, especially something momentous or calamitous, is likely to happen. --- "They believed that wild birds in the house were portents of death.”

Ooooooh!

______

JUST LIKE A "self righteous arsehole", YOU KEEP PROCLAIMING THAT RUSH'S ILLNESS IS AN OMEN.

Outside of presidents, I would say Rush has had the biggest impact on politics in the last 50 years.

He gave people the tools, the know how, on how to read politicians.

I started listening to him in 1989. I feel he’s like an old friend.

Dear Rush, we are all wishing you well at this time.

I see that. For some reason I thought it was Cardiff CA. I wonder if the FDA would allow it to be used here! /cynic

I’m leaning for now toward the cure would be so well received commercially that it would become priceless. Who has the cure for cancer? This company has it and the patent and you are going to pay for it for the rest of your life...maybe agree to monthly payments for the rest of your life (which you would not have otherwise). Other than that, a lot of people are going to become incredibly rich and powerful and those people tend to not be the empathetic type

I assume the research will essentially be open source for peer review but no actual product would be.

It sure would be nice, we’ve lost enough family to all types of cancer. There would be so much disinformation spread about it though. I can imagine it would become like the HPV vaccine, with governments forcing it be given to everyone and many refusing to take it. Ironically, with a cure for cancer, you don’t need an HPV vaccine! Oops!

(Does it appear that I don’t trust government?) 😁

I think it would be our CDC rather than the FDA. And certainly they would be interested, they get cancer just like the rest of us.

“I assume the research will essentially be open source for peer review but no actual product would be.”

Trump signed a “Right to Try” bill which should make this stuff available.
