What I think is most interesting about the rejection of Rand Paul’s question, is that he went ahead and asked it anyway, via Twitter.
So far, there has been no reproach from the bench - at least openly. I have to assume that despite the supposed ban on electronic devices, they are all aware of the Rand’s tweets.
I wonder what would happen if the President’s defense council just went ‘off script’ and used a few minutes of their time to answer Rand’s question without it being officially read.
After all, those answering questions on both sides have been free to use their time to go back and answer past questions, make a clarifying statement, or really say anything.
Nothing said so far has been interrupted and ruled out of order.
If the word “whistleblower” was not used, what could possibly be the basis for declaring it out of order?
