I suspect Skunk Cabbage doesn’t want Bernie to be a player in the upcoming Open DNC Convention (for obvious reasons), when the candidate will be chosen based on one with enough delegates to win in the first round of voting.
During the second and subsequent rounds, the field opens wide and anyone, even Skunk Cabbage, can toss their names in...hence her strategy of trying to eliminate Bernie early.
