Yeah, we're going to replace all fossil fuels with renewables in 10 years.

unlike finite amounts of oil and coal. You're a damn liar, Jim Carlton! As long as the earth's tectonic plates continue to subduct each other it will continue to produce oil and coal. You may as well declare water a finite resource. Which it would be if evaporation and precipitation ever ceased.

We have a 5th Column in our nation working hard to weaken us from inside. I suspect most of the foot soldiers are nothing more than pawns but those that are providing the money and guiding them certainly know what they are doing.

While the federal Energy Information Administration agency didnt have historical data on such projects, it estimates industry costs for transmission-related operations increased to $11.4 billion last year from $6.7 billion in 2009.Wait a minute. How can you estimate anything without data? The Energy Information Administration should change its name to the Energy Bullsh*t Administration.

Try to run an induction blast furnace with solar panels.

Whoa! There’s my path to billions. Wireless power lines. I better seek a federal grant pronto.

“We need to develop more renewable energy, of course, but it shouldnt come at the cost of damage to our last remaining wild places, Brian Kelly, who helps lead a green group in the area, said of a proposed transmission line that would run through the nearby forest.”

Maybe if you burn the solar panels?
To: karpov
I would require all green technology to be manufactured using green technology. No diesel to mine, transport or to manufacture any steel component....no manufacturing using any electricity having any fossil component...no installation or excavation using any fossil-powered construction equipment. Make exasperated greenies admit publicly there is nothing that can be done to advance green tech without a heavy reliance on fossil.

Look up Nikola Tesla. He was making good progress on large scale wireless power transmission a century ago.

Hell, just try to power a elec fence in area like MI where the sun doesn’t shine for days/weeks.
The ‘battery backup’ will be the only thing powering it until it goes dead.

350 years of proven coal reserves in North America.
There’s plenty of time to develop an alternative.

Again, that's if the Earth's processes that created that coal in the first place stops. If it does, we got bigger problems on our hands.

Right and it’s time to stop using that idiotic term fossil fuels.

I find it remarkable that there are so many types and qualities of coal.
I mined Illinois Basin coal in the 70s. The same coal seams are found (with different names) in West Kentucky. East Kentucky is apparently older, with mostly lower sulfur and higher BTUs.
Illinois Basin includes coals from Iowa (three or four different seams) Missouri and Indiana. Some is strip. Some is deep.
Western coal from Wyoming and Montana has come to dominate the power biz. Near Gillette, the coal in 100 feet deep and 100 feet thick.
