Both Russia and China have hypersonic controllable nuclear missiles. The U.S. doesnt.
So after we all get killed they have another 15-20 minutes to survive......meh
I’ve seen every episode of the Expanse because I’m a space geek.
However, the scarcity issues they depict is the opposite of reality. The amount of wealth on just one near-earth asteroid of above a kilometer in diameter will amount to tens of TRILLIONS of dollars when mined and delivered to Earth orbit. And there are over 2000 NEAs above 1 km in dia.
And then there’s the Asteroid Belt, then the Trojans - where millions of asteroids exceed 1 km in diameter. The amount of wealth to be generated is millions, perhaps billions of times greater than Earth’s entire GDP.
Whoever controls space controls the world.
I have no doubt youre opposed to it China. You want a monopoly on that for yourselves.
I agree that the elements available in the various asteroids is enormous compared to earth. Though air and water would be obvious needs for humans living in space. Those would be very scarce. They could make water from space ice, but it is not renewable. I suppose they could make oxygen from water too but they’d need many other gases to make breathable air.
There is talk of moving asteroids into earth orbit to make the deposits easier to exploit. Off the top of my head I don’t recall when in the future The Expanse takes place - clearly several 100 years from now. They don’t as I recall get into the various stages or steps of space exploration very much except for that scene about the development of the super fast rocket engine.
I just finished watching it last week. I binged through the all 4 seasons over a period of a week or so.
So we can just kick all the Chinese astronauts out the ISS air lock, right?
More likely whoever controls space won't CARE about the world. The vast majority of humanity will live their lives on artificial habitats. "Dirt-grubbers" will be looked down on.
Just noise. It’s not like we’re starting a new race war or anything new here.
1/2 of my life’s joy has been helping/seeing Trump elected and turning America around from the commie shitstain Obama and the RINOs were promoting.
the other half would be us bombing Beijing and watching a 1/2 billion Chinese massacre the remaining chicomms.
So it is said.
Set the Japanese to the task— they have experience and a long memory and cultural opposition to the “old” country. To which they have zero, no allegiance in cultural memory. Why, for example they are buy a lot of our stealth fighters. For practical application.
the chi-coms merely stealing the idea of the SE Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere, aka the former Empire of Japan of recent conflict.
There is a overt reason for the high ground, and President Trump is the only one to do it.
This only means they already have their own space force
“If you’ve seen it in Star Trek or Star Wars, we’ve been there and done that.” - Ben Rich.
“The U. S. Air Force has just given us a contract to take E. T. back home.” - Ben Rich.
“We have things in the Nevada desert that are alien to your way of thinking far beyond anything you see on Star Trek.” - Ben Rich.
“We have things that are 50 years beyond anything you can think of. Not 50 years beyond your imagination, but 50 years beyond your conception.” - Ben Rich.
You misinterpret my "Meanwhile, the USA...". It's meant to convey the message that we (both gov and private) are soooo far ahead of the Chinese. It's gonna take them a while to steal, copy, and reverse engineer our stuff. Even then, we have experience that they don't yet have.
Ben Rich “father of stealth technology” and former vice-president of the Lockheed corporation, Director of the Skunk Works.
Ben Rich (and the entire F-117A team) won the 1989 Collier Trophy, was a fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), recieved the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) national aircraft design award in 1972, was selected the 1988 Wright Brothers annual lecturer by both the AIAA and the British Royal Aeronautical Society, and in 1991 was elected an honorary fellow of the AIAA. In 1994, Ben Rich published his memoirs “Skunk Works.”
So what. We'll have rods from space. That should be the first thing a US Space Force should enable, directed rods at targets. Not nuclear, but packs a punch just as good. With our railgun research, it should be feasible from outer space.
Too much sci-fi with the alien premise. A better series is the Netflix series "Mars". Shows the challenges of colonizing Mars and the friction between government and private entities in getting there.
Interpret as :
Direct threat to China’s plans to Dominate the World....
.
I completely agree. There needs to be a better balance of power in East Asia.
