OK, can someone please explain to me this obsession with Trump’s tax returns?

What do they intend to prove anyway?

If there were any anomalies or violations of the tax codes, isn’t it the job of the IRS to flag this?

And if the IRS discovered anything wrong, isn’t it the business of the Trump organization to settle this with the IRS and nobody else’s?

That has been my question for a long time.

I suppose they think they will discover: Income item: $3,000,000.00 from Russian oligarch for favors granted.

Trump has an army of accountants that prepare his three foot high tax returns. The Reps are not looking for tax violations.

The Dems see Trump's tax returns as an operations research document. They want to see how much taxes he pays; how rich he is; what investments he has; how much he owes; and any other derogatory information.

Trump is a businessman. Letting his competitors see his tax returns could hurt his business. It could affect his ability to obtain loans.

We have never had a President who has owned an international, family-owned, multi-billion dollar business. Teresa Heinz did not divulge her entire tax return citing family trusts and privacy. Trump should not be forced to release his tax returns.

Besides embarrassing him if he's worth less than he's publicly stated, they want to know how much tax he paid. They think he paid zero federal income taxes, and want to hammer him over that.

Also, they want to see his deductions so they can hammer him on "tax shelters," implying they are illegal, unethical, or the rich taking advantage of something not available to the rest of us.

Also, they want to see his bankruptcies and losses, so they can say that he's not as good a deal maker as he says he is.

It’s like they have never actually looked at a tax return. They think they will “prove” that Trump is not rich. Well, a tax return assesses taxable income, not wealth. You can have a net loss of millions in a year, and still have billions of dollars.

They also seem to believe that Trump’s tax returns will somehow document his crimes. Like his itemized income will include items like:

$150,000,000 Income received from V. Putin for betrayal of America

And deductions will include:

$50,000 allowable expense for incontinent escorts in St Petersburg

Politicians must join the establishment club. So they arrange their lives so their tax profile is free of controversy.

This means Pols are low risk by design, hence more losers and more incompetence.

... by inherent design ... inept ...

“And if the IRS discovered anything wrong”. . .They would have already had a “whistle-blower” file charges and leak the returns.

“What do they intend to prove anyway?”

Remember when Trump started his campaign and boasted that he was worth $10 billion? Ever since that day, the liberals wanted his tax returns to try to prove he “lied”.

People who have no clue about business. Business financials tell you a lot more than tax returns. Granted, I don’t know at Trumps level but I suspect if you were looking for a lone they’d rather have your financials than your taxes
