Hate is dangerous, it leads to irrational actions.
‘Hate speech’ is an attempt to destroy Free Speech.
In this time of mass media, academic, politician, corporate and non-profit lying, speaking truth to power = hate speech.
The speech some hate is magically presented as hate speech; dissenting intellectual positions become mental conditions; and contrary opinions are delegitimised – after all, there’s no need to argue with a mad man or woman. This is censorship by way of intellectual pathology. - Ben Shapiro
It is actually liberal blasphemy laws.
We’re seeing a return to tribal ethics. The social rules that are considered necessary for society and the safety of the tribe become equally important as traditional care/harm ethics like “don’t murder, don’t beat up random people”.
We see this tribal social morality in Islam, where you can beat, jail or kill a woman who won’t wear hijab or execute the infidel who defies the official social code.
They frame it as “your words/blasphemy/disbelief is equal to an attack on all sacred believers”.
In social justice, they’re using their own version of it. “You’re invalidating our existence”! (AKA, you want to wipe us out.) Or they’ll actually say, “You’re killing us, you want us dead.” Now their violence against the blasphemer is considered self-defense.

Define “hate speech.”
Mostly it seems to be whatever offends Leftists or Moslems.
But “hate speech” however it is defined is not nearly as dangerous as laws against it.
