“”I started thinking critically “”

I doubt that she has ever STARTED thinking! Vermont! They need to secede from the union. What have they ever offered the country?

“”Realizing that there are actually several countries where they’re not using firearms for their regular police duties.””

And THAT’S a complete sentence?

She has the right to move to any of those other countries, doesn’t she? I wonder what the voters think who put her in office. Probably think she’s just the greatest - the same people who put Bernie in office. What am I thinking?

“”It’s not an overnight thing. It’s a gradual program. It’s talking about how do we really shift and talk about doing things maybe differently in a way that might be better in the long run,” she said.””

Kinda like going to bed a female and waking up and deciding to be a male. Just like that! Got it!

She is wrong. I was just in Ireland last week. Bus we were on got in an accident. Every police person who showed up had a side arm...and a taser.

Vermont is a state with a heavily armed populace (and a low crime rate). If you don’t want your cops to bear arms, I guess you don’t want cops. Every man, woman, and beastie for their own selves! Have at it, schmucks.

Why not allow the cops to carry muzzle-loading muskets and blunderbusses? After all, they say that is fine for the rest of us just like when the 2nd Amendment was approved.

The cops could throw some really old, really hard donuts at the bad guys.

Freeman, who is a progressive Democrat, pointed out that other countries do not have armed police forces.

If Freeman is thinking about Great Britain...think again. I saw more military weapons carried by their police at Victoria Station, the airports, and on the streets than I’ve ever seen on any American street.

disarming the police would make them vulnerable, especially in potentially dangerous situations.

My heart bleeds ...

Disarming the CITIZENS would make them vulnerable, especialy in potentially dangerous situations.

This really isn't as crazy as it sounds. Like most things it depends on the execution. British beat patrol police are not armed.

The truth is that the police are too armed and are in many places are beginning to to resemble combat units. When the populace sees the cops as an occupying force you've go problems.

Vermont is one of the few states that could probably get away with this (for the most part). It is, if I recall correctly, something like 98% white.

When terrorists murdered the writers at Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris, the first police on the scene were unarmed bicycle cops. They were shot down in the street begging for their lives. Consider when unarmed cops in your city are called to respond to a home invasion just what will they do? Simply standby and watch until the perpetrators leave? Ask the criminals to leave in a nice way? How about the home owners who are being beaten, raped or killed... will they be defended? We
