When will the US withdraw the occupation troops from the Confederacy?

After the trials for treason.

Yes, and it should have happened long ago. Assuming a sound strategic reason to maintain US forces in the region, at least Poland is compatible with our values and interests.

This is decades overdue.

Pull all troops out of Germany. They are no allies of ours.

Put some in Poland. Bring the majority of them home. Its long past time for German freeloading to end.

Europe may not be paying attention, but we’re only about 4 years away from being a net EXPORTER of crude oil. When that day comes, we’ll finally be able to tell the Middle East Shakes to SHOVE IT...and Europe will need to find a way to access that oil - and given that they don’t have a military to speak of, that should be fun to watch.

Exactly. We shouldn't be getting involved in the middle east as is. With the oil/gas we produce and with what we will be able to import from Canada once Nordstream is complete plus what we can import from Mexico - we really need not concern ourselves with the middle east. Straits of Hormuz blocked? Gosh. That sounds like a real problem for you Gunther and Pierre and Xi. I hope you have plans to deal with it.

With the exception of the elderly, most Krauts would be glad to see the Amis go.

Two things:

1) You're right they would.....until they needed us again. That's what kind of "friends" the Germans are. They're always there when they need you.

2) Dieses Gefuehl is beiderseitig. (The feeling's mutual).

If the EU takes their own defense seriously, then they would overtly be aggressive towards the USA. The EU at its core is based on anti-Americanism; the concept dates back to Kaiser Wilhelm II who wanted “a United States of Europe against America”.

Having lived in 4 European countries....no they wouldn't. The only ones in Europe who have reasonable militaries are Britain and France. Britain is our staunch ally. France is, well, French.

The idea of being militarily threatened by Europeans is like the idea of being militarily threatened by the Democratic Socialists of America. A girl scout troop is more terrifying than those pantywaists. So no, its not a reasonable concern to think it could happen in the future. There is hardly an intact male left on the Western half of the continent.

Turkey is waiting for their moment.

They have huge influence in Germany, and millions of Muslims in Western Europe who will be loyal to Turkey when they make their move.

After the trials for treason.

“If you bring these [Confederate] leaders to trial it will condemn the North, for by the Constitution secession is not rebellion. Lincoln wanted Davis to escape, and he was right. His capture was a mistake. His trial will be a greater one.” Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase, July 1867 (Foote, The Civil War, Vol. 3, p. 765)

“If you bring these leaders to trial, it will condemn the North, for by the Constitution, secession is not a rebellion. His [Jefferson Davis] capture was a mistake. His trial will be a greater one. We cannot convict him of treason.” [as quoted by Herman S. Frey, in Jefferson Davis, Frey Enterprises, 1977, pp. 69-72]

Pretty sure Congress has no say on redeployment of troops.

The President is the Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces, not Congress.

Congress appropriates money. If they put money in the budget for troops in Germany there are going to be troops in Germany. It’s that simple. The GOP Senate & Pentagon will fight POTUS tooth and nail about redeploying any troops from Germany.

Agreed. Poland, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia are all allies and we DO need allies. I’m all for moving out of Germany and forcing them to provide for their own defense, which would make it harder for them to provide welfare for their muslim rapefugees.

“Ami” is short for Amerikaner (American). It is often used as a derogatory term for American soldiers.

No, I’m quite sure you are mistaken here. As Commander in Chief he has wide latitude in troop deployment just as it turns out he did in redirecting money Congress appropriated to build the wall instead of for what it was originally intended.

It would be pretty useless to have the president have to go before Congress every time troops needed to be moved. If the President under the War Powers Act can commit the military to action without the Congress (he would need to report to Congress within 6 months) he can surely commission a troop movement.

"...see the Amis go.

I haven't heard that term since actually being stationed in Germany. The old timers liked us,the Frauleins liked us but the writing was on the wall.Poland loves Americans for very good reason.
