Probably because they have no clue where the cuke was grown.
_______________
Stores where I am will include on the pricing signs where the food is from. Most of the products have labels saying what country it is a product of, too. I always look and choose an American grown cucumber, for example, or tomato, etc. I want to support our growers, and I trust it more, too.

Did he stop manufacturing some of his brands in China? Or is the pot calling out the kettle here.... he needs to engage his brain before tweeting

Finally, Sam had to back off
_______________

I didn’t realize that he tried in the beginning. Sometimes I am hesitant to go to Walmart because I picture it as a giant Chinese store. But then so many are. Sometimes if you nee something, you are just stuck. I supposedly got an Native American blanket from contributing to some charity which helps Indian children, but the label said “Made in China.” I just shook my head.

Now, that would put multi-cultural companies like Apple in a dilemma, since they say they are an American company but have their stuff manufactured in China through contracted manufacturers.

Apple makes their stuff from a variety of sources around the world, and many of those sources are here in the USA, including chip makers. More so than most companies. Name one phone company other than Apple that makes phones in the USA. You can't. They source some stuff from Taiwan. Other companies are heavily invested in communist China. Stop buying android communist phones and computers.

I could not have made my sarcasm tag anymore noticeable

Unless of course you actually put the sarc "/s" tag in. Sarcasm frequently doesn't translate over the written word without the help of a visual cue like a look or raising of the voice; something. That's why it's so important to use it. I've made the same mistake a few times so now I try to remember to put that little "/s" in there just to make sure.

Had I seen it then I would have felt no need to respond like I did.

Either be American in fact, or pay Chinese style tariffs. This freedom of choice stuff can be exhilarating!

The parts for the iPhone, iPad, iPod and Mac are manufactured by Apple and contractors across 28 countries. This includes plants in India where the 5s is produced. Apple does final assembly in Ireland, China,... and in the USA. For some time, Apple products were made in Brazil. Other companies are primarily only in China. So tariffs on Chinese goods will harm other tech companies far more so than Apple. Apple can shift its presence via contractors anywhere, unlike other companies (like Samsung) who own factories in China and have Chinese employees.

I’m even surprised how many people would rather, for example, buy a cheaper cucumber from Mexico rather than one grown in the USA. Supporting American products doesn’t even seem to enter some people’s minds.

Define "cheaper".

If the cucumber from Mexico is $.80 and the USA cucumber is $1.00, no big deal.

Unfortunately, it usually is more like the Mexican cucumber is $.80 and the USA cucumber is $2.00.

That IS a big difference. I might decide I don’t need a cucumber that badly that day. I’ve turned down things I would have liked because they were either ridiculously expensive or only available from Mexico — like cherries and asparagus. But sometimes I give in and buy, say, a bell pepper from Mexico because that’s all there is available. But generally I try to support our own products.

Yes. Sam Walton was always pretty patriotic. He said he learned his core business skills ( logistics, product warehousing, inventory management, and transport, and deployment) in the USAF during the Berlin airlift.

I don’t know. But wouldn’t that mean Trump was personally willing to take a hit and sacrifice for what he believes needs to be done regarding tariffs? Do ya think encouraging people to make products in the U.S. is bad?

Btw, I’d bet the rent Trump’s brain is engaged more than yours while he’s sleeping.
