That really is awesome. I showed it to someone, she was convinced the video was playing in reverse.

Supersonic in 60 seconds. I wonder what the weight to power ratio is?

Vince, thanks very much for that link, and for the others it led me to.
I’d no idea some of that stuff was going on and/or was so far advanced.
Mesmerizing !

Don’t know right off hand, but it’s over 5 million pounds of thrust and a bit over two thirds the thrust of a Saturn V.
It’s over twice the thrust of any other current rocket.

They also recovered the fairings which will be reused for SpaceX’s first launch of its communications satellites (Starlink) next month.
The two side cores will be reused for the next Falcon Heavy launch in June that is being flown for the Air Force.

Elon Musk wanted to cancel Falcon Heavy because the original Falcon 9 had improved so much. It cost SpaceX a lot of money to develop. Now it may create a market of its own. Build it and they will come.
SpaceX has also started on their next rocket which will be more powerful than the Saturn V and completely reusable.

Thrust at liftoff = 5,100,000 pounds
Weight at liftoff = 3,200,000 pounds
Thrust to weight ratio = 1.59
Acceleration off pad = 19 ft/sec2

I think it is 9.5 ft in first second
x = xo + vot + 1/2at2
From x = 0 to x = 9.5 ft in one second.

Where are the posters who are going to educate me as to what a con man Elon Musk is? They seem to get pretty shy on this type of news.
