They have been charged with money laundering which I assume is for what you describe as they haven been charged with tax fraud

They have also been charged with wire fraud for mailing fake pics of their girls rowing.

Let’s see federal guidelines for money laundering g a half million

(Note that prosecutors do delight in overcharging )

Best I can tell is she’s a level 20 at 500,000 dollars for laundering and fraud which carries 33-41 months

If she accepts responsibility she drops down possibly to level 18 which makes her almost eligible for alternate sentencing besides prison which I think kicks in at 24 months or less

These guesses are based on concurrent sentencing which is likely

My guess is the man will negotiate for the stiffer time if it saves the wife

That’s typical in dope cases

The ‘elites’, who are only elite in their own mind, are so used to being above the law, they have come to expect it and like smollett, demand it.

She and many others need to be fully prosecuted.

I wonder how far back, and what records can be unsealed, can the investigation into fraudulent college admittance go?

Freepers seem to love handing out prison time in general

Those are the "law and order" types who actually still believe there's law left in this country.

That's the lowest level of understanding of "the law" in America.

He said it’s impossible to believe that that the DA did not warn her and her atty of the potential of money laundering charges

Reportedly, all of the folks involved were told: Plea out, or face the harder charges. Some pleaded. She didn't, and was recently seen smiling while going in and out of court. Well, the DA charged her with the additional charges. Now that reality has set in that she's going to be doing a stretch, she's soiling herself.

I’m curious what’s the appropriate sentence according to freeper logic for her crime

There were multiple crimes. Conspiracy to commit fraud, bribery, money laundering and, down the road, possibly income tax evasion (because its been reported she may have run the $500k through a for profit business, but written it off as a charitable donation). These were not victim-less crimes. Other would-be students were denied admittance to USC because here kid(s) got in fraudulently.

If it were up to this Freeper, for the fraud, money laundering and tax evasion, she should get at least 5-10 years (parole possibility after 5 years) plus restitution and penalties.

They'd have to build new prisons. Nobody wants to peel the onion back too far. It would be a purge.

OK, preface: I haven’t paid over-attention to this story, nor have I read this article.

I just have to ask somewhere, though:

IS ANYONE CONSIDERING PROSECUTION OF *COLLEGE* AUTHORITIES WHO MIGHT BE *ON THE TAKE* HERE?

We seem to keep talking about those giving bribes - what about those taking them?

Does USC even HAVE a crew team for women???

Also- I think there is income tax fraud involved, since it is entirely possible that those payments in the scam were paid to a 501 entity-— a ‘charity’.

I don’t believe she paid that much $$$ without deducting it on her tax returns.

There are many angles in this mess to charge them with.

Aunt Becky thought that the DA was bluffing, but he was holding a Full House, instead of a pair.

Should prove to be a Hallmark case.

How would one know that a charity is fake?

Use the Clinton Foundation as the standard.

OJ gilded the USC scam years ago.

He never attended any classes-—and stand in’s took his ‘tests’.

Those kinds of standards at USC have been going on for years....

Federal charges are lurking for using the MAIL to facilitate this scam.

This case involves a fake charity-—where those ‘donations’ were to facilitate college admissions for kids not eligiible by merit.

IF any of those ‘charity’ deductions were used on their income tax returns, the IRS can go back s far as they please to find other ‘mistakes’.

OTOH, the daughter had to have at least understood that she wasn’t USC material and that strings were pulled to get in her there......Are you kidding? I have hired kids for a real low life position, given them instructions, told the to accomplish this simple task within an hour and gone back three hours to find the task not even begun. I took them in in order to fire them and they (some) said, “Oh, you wanted ME to do that? THAT is too far below my abilities”.

Especially when she first met the crew coach and she asked him "What's 'crew'?"

The daughter started her own YouTube channel and was making over a million a year.

Unbelievable. What is the appeal? Watching this little brat comb her hair - live on YouTube? We have brave military men and women, and their families who sacrifice for this nation, making poverty wages. And these brats make a million bucks a year for making videos of themselves applying chapstick? We are doomed as a nation.
