I suspect McWhorter of being a secret conservative. He tends to toss in something to keep his liberal cred, such as his comment about Blasey-Ford. He’s absolutely brilliant in his field of linguistics and spent his life working hard to achieve his prominence. He’s learned languages from all over the world, for one thing. I suspect he’s secretly is annoyed by lazy people and phonies.

I bought his Teaching Company series on linguistics. Brilliant. I learned a ton.

I'm interested in what he has to say on anything.

Small point, but I remember reading that these Nigerians claim that they were born in the U.S. But I don't know where in the U.S.
