I remain confused regarding the United States relationship with our “friend” and neighbor to the south, Mexico. Mexico is not a good neighbor. And they are not our friend. Friendly governments don’t allow caravans of foreigners to freely pass through their country for the express purpose of illegally invading their friendly neighbor’s country. Friendly countries don’t act indifferently to drug and human trafficking across their borders. While fences help make good neighbors they aren’t enough. Our friend to the south, Mexico, must be properly held accountable for their indifference. The problems at our southern border will never be solved until punitive measures are taken against our neighbor, Mexico. Mexico must be convinced that fixing the border problems is truly in their best interest. Friends don’t mistreat friends.
