And leave the driving to us.
Tip o’ the driver’s cap to the old Greyhound TV ads.
Now back to the Perry Como Show or Ed Sullivan.
Fairfax is the one I don’t like. Get him out !
The woman says she doesn’t want any money. She wants him to resign. That seems like, either resign, or I ‘ll see you in court. Her lawyer related the message.
Worse than that for Fairfax.
One report said women who were friends at Duke with the 2nd accuser have made statements to “authorities.”
Authorities?
That sounds like police and that sounds like a criminal investigation into rape. He may be visiting North Carolina soon to post bail.
Gov. Northam is at least reading ROOTS this weekend. Or is he watching the mini-series?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Nope - he’s reading Ta-Nehisi Coates’ book The Case for Reparations & figuring out how he’s going to foist reparations on Virginians. He’s going to be doin’ the old shuck ‘n jive’ in an all out attempt to win back support from the Black Democrats in the state, until the end of his term (if he stays). It’s going to be disgusting to watch.
But think about the optics.
Fairfax is 100% going to be out - likely this weekend.
The white guy gets accused and the black guy gets the boot?
Dems will be P*SSED OFF and up and arms over this. Will help us in that state for years.
Not 2020. 2019. Virginia elections are THIS November.
He will be the only one to resign.
Northam has more to lose by leaving. His wife wants him to stay. He’s a doctor with money and a career to return to once done. Dems have no leverage over him. What he did was stupid but not impeachable.
His calculation is to stay where he is — to hell with the party — and win back his reputation and name. He won’t resign in shame.
So Fairfax will go and the optics to black voter is, “White man gets accused of being racist. He stays. Black dude goes to jail.”
It sure seems like he should be charged.
Wow. Should be a party.
But I’m more worried about 2020 presidential race. Want us to keep that state in the R column.
FBI needs to investigate - isn’t that the new rule?
The authorities in North Carolina are getting sworn statements from her friends at the time to verify she discussed it back then with them.
Apparently there’s either email or some type of texting communication back then (saved some way) that verifies she told them then what happened with details.
But all speculation at this point.
My guess is the woman will pursue it and rape charges are coming. No way she’d hire a law firm and have friends talking to “authorities” unless she was filing a formal complaint.
No. State charges. State crime. No statute of limitations.
He’ll be asked if he wants to come in. His lawyer will tell him to plead the 5th.
He’ll be indicted. Post bond. A trial in a year or so.
VA is not in the R column and hasn’t been for several presidential elections.
Everything you said is probably true. It’s also delicious for Republicans, sorry I can’t help gloating. The only way this works for the Dems is that the AG cannot get a promotion to Lt. Gov, Northam has to select a black man to be Lt. Governor once Fairfax is gone, someone who could be the heir apparent to the governorship.
However, legal scholars analyzing the crisis in Virginia have said that the commonwealth’s policy on impeachment only applies to incidents occurring during a lawmaker’s term of office, so it’s unlikely the measure would hold up.
So he could be charged with rape in North Carolina and still not resign - to receive a paycheck and health benefits.
“A law firm representing Meredith Watson released a statement on Friday alleging that Fairfax raped her at Duke University in 2004. The accusations follows Dr. Vanessa Tyson’s allegation earlier this week that she was forced to perform oral sex on him at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston.”
That same story it says “2000” quoting the law firm. Looks like 2000 he was still at Duke. 2004 he was off working in politics:
