> In Jersey you can’t pump your own gas so attendants carry wads of cash while pumping your gas. <

I was wondering why that gas station door wasn’t locked after, say, 10 PM. Then do all transactions through a window. But your post answers my question.

They carry wads of cash? At 4:00 a.m. it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Sad is right. Those who commit this level of violent crime, killing some defenseless clerk over a few bucks, should immediately be hung after being found guilty.

Its very common for these guys to carry outlaw in the more crime ridden areas. That Asian guy with the bodega in Newark, he has a shotgun under that counter, its ready, he will pull the mothereffer out and blow the head off the piece of crap that tries to pull one on him. They don’t mess around.

The gas station at the corner of Amboy Avenue and Woodbridge Avenue ... The clerk has been identified as John Bertram, 38, of the Fords section of Woodbridge.

Try a Google on Dallas Police Shotgun Squads.

Occurred in late 1960s-early ‘70s. Severely curtailed night robberies of convenience stores. Wide local news coverage of robbers getting blown away. .......I lived there then.

Homicide just means a person caused the death of another person.

The death could be the result of auto crash, firearm, knife, poison, forced starvation and any other means.

In Texas, I’d guess most are caused by DUI and illegals.

I will also add that many or due to self defense after a break in or attempted robbery or car jacking.

Lt. H. C. Holloway devised the strategy of hiding policemen, armed with shotguns, in the back of convenience stores, liquor stores and other likely targets of pistol-packing robbers. Holloway, who harbored an intense hatred for hijackers, instructed his men to come out blasting away.

“Never give a hijacker the first shot,” he would say, “he might get lucky.”

Or, “I don’t want you to kill a hijacker without warning… but I think the click (of a shotgun) coming off safety is warning enough.”
