How about taking cautionary tales for what they are?

You’re welcome. The wiki article on it gives good background. Bob Clampett’s defence of it is right on.

That was a funny cartoon!! The snowflakes would melt at the words 'Japs Free' and 'midgets', the stereotypical lips of the 'Negro race' and the American Flags at the end...

They don't make them like that anymore...

I would have no problem with leave to a point. But the chance of one of them getting “EVEN” with some guy who is a stellar worker just because he might have said something that she didnt agree with.

To dam much lying and accusations...DRAMA. That part of the point is the problem.

... You know, it actually comes across as especially sad that they completely missed the point of some Disney films especially when they worked for that company.

For starters, with Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, technically, the true loves first kiss thing was closer to CPR, which, you know, consent is implicitly given to even be allowed to LIVE. And I noticed they didn’t seem to blame, I don’t know, the Evil Queen and Maleficent for making such necessary. Besides, at least in the case of Sleeping Beauty, the original fairy tales were MUCH worse in that regard, where the prince rapes and impregnates the princess, TWICE (heck, in some versions, he wasn’t even a human, he was an ogre, in other words, someone like Shrek.). You ought to be thankful that Disney ONLY had the prince perform what amounts to CPR on the girl and NOT raping her like in the original tales.

And as far as Cinderella, she didn’t wait for a rich guy to rescue her. Heck, she didn’t even ANTICIPATE that she’d dance with him at the ball, let alone that he’d rescue her from her abusive family. Her original motive wasn’t even to marry the prince, just dance at the ball. Sure, maybe she might have wanted to marry the prince later on, but in the here and now of that time, she didn’t have any apparent plans to actually dance with the prince or marry him. She even implies before being locked up by her stepmom that she had absolutely no concept of love before then, so she couldn’t have imagined wanting to be with the Prince.

For The Little Mermaid, I can’t speak for the original tale, but the Disney version definitely didn’t have Ariel simply give up her voice for a man. Actually, in that film, she actually had a long-vested interest in humanity since before she even knew Prince Eric existed, let alone met him, and desired to live among humanity before then. This was literally said in her song, Part of Your World, which, I must stress, took place BEFORE she even saw Eric at all, or heck, even heard of him, much less met him face to face. Heck, technically, even after seeing Eric for the first time, she didn’t even initially plan on becoming human to be with him. Her original plan was simply to swim up to his castle and draw him out so she’d learn more about humanity from him directly, and doing so while STILL a mermaid (this is a bit easily missed as it occurred right before Under the Sea). In fact, the ONLY reason she even BOTHERED to go for Ursula in the first place (something she was EXCEEDINGLY reluctant to do, I should add) was because King Triton after Sebastian accidentally squealed on her good Samaritan act for Eric to him basically threw a tantrum and blew up the Grotto right in front of her. Also, the only one who even directly suggested she give up her voice for Eric was Ursula, the main villain. Even Ariel specifically attempted to identify several key problems with that, namely how she’s even able to communicate with him. So, no, The Little Mermaid NEVER advocated for her giving up her voice for a man. Quite the opposite, actually, it advocated being yourself EVEN IN SPITE OF losing your voice.

Honestly, I have to blame people like Katzenberg and Woolverton, since if ANYONE ruined fairytales under Disney’s direction, it was those two starting with Beauty and the Beast. At least with the classics and The Little Mermaid, Disney made sure to retain the original message as much as possible while otherwise toning it down.

What you wrote should be an article that is published in the main stream papers to refute these PC nutcases.
