Black walnuts make really good pies. Of course they aren’t cheap, either.

It’s not all doom and gloom. Most major
growers won’t go broke because of weather
devastation. Crop insurance covers most
of the loss. The cost to the consumer
is where the loss will be felt. The
Chinese consume about 50% of the US
production of pecans.

Yep - most pecans that hit the stores are from the previous year so next year should see a shortage...but they will try to recoup some of the cost this year....
