It took out Tyndall for awhile. Wow.
That Summerville Georgia up around Adairsville
Looks like tornado wind damage.
My goodness.
Surge at St. George Island, well to the east of landfall:

Doesn’t look like any Category 2 to me~ That is devastating!!
Read up the thread a piece that it was “ not as bad as reported.”...
A picture is worth a 1000 words~
Yes we visited the corre museum. There is also a state park which is a residence and garden. Building circa 1850. The ranger has gone as far as to locate and ask decendents for items to stock in the home so it has a lot of heirlooms. Great visit. Up the road a piece is st marks. One of first settlements in n America. There is a restaurant with sign which states be aware you will find here bible followers country music and people with firearms.
we got lucky ....if it hit just west of Panama city .Panama City metro (population 180,000) = Mexico beach (pop 2500)
it veered east just enough
Yup!
Frightening.
Nothing like the power of the sea, standing on the beach before a hurricane hits.
If u can’t gitt to one, try Lake Michigan in a blizzard
I think Panama City still received Cat 4 winds - see lots of pics and videos of damage there.
I have a flight going into Charlotte in the morning,
Anyone in that area have a feel how the airport will be working tomorrow morning?
I hope the video will be posted on YouTube because I’m one of those who won’t go to Facebook at all. I’d like to see it and will check for it later. Have a hungry herd of cats and a hubby that need to be fed now.
It makes my hair stand on end to think about what they and everyone else who was there went through as the storm roared through. Videos I’ve seen have been mind-boggling.
The winds are still very strong and I’m fretting over friends in southern GA. Hubby heard from them a little earlier and they said the wind was blowing rain in one door and out the other. :-(
Wind speed down to 100 mph as of the 7pm eastern advisory. Still a Cat 2, and even a low-end Cat 1 can wreak a lot of havoc in areas with a lot of trees.
