Its an interesting notion. Following that logic, we are in a brave new world where a citizen's only role is to consume. The owners of those machines (and especially the finance behind them) are extremely wealthy, which means power. It also means that besides a few skilled laborers, most normal people are useless ( thus are paid accordingly) and have little power. The role of government and politics would then be simply redistributing that wealth. Not a positive trend for the USA.
Republicans only care about deficits when Democrats are in the White House and Democrats only care about deficits when Republicans are in the White House.
There are no Congressional Republicans on my ballot, ever. From Dog Catcher to Rep to Senate to Governor...all Democrats.
