A squadron of choppers flew over my house on Tuesday. I’m guessing they were from MCAS Cherry Point. I believe they landed at an airfield nearby and will weather the storm there.

Speaking of salt tolerant plants, there’s a very charming history behind Gaillardia being present on the NC Coast. They’re known as Joe Bells there, beginning on Ocracoke but have spread the length of the Outer Banks in the century or so that they’ve been there.

A friend of mine is a lineman down here in the Keys. He’s taking the company truck to NC today.Saw local new report yesterday that Sarasota sent their Emergency Response Team north to stage for Florence.
It is a beautiful scene to watch a convoy of out-of-state cherry pickers and other line trucks heading into a storm damaged area.
