The real Scots left that dreary place between in the late 1700s and first half of the 1800s. They achieved great success in the US and Canada through hard work and inventiveness. They obviously left the slackers behind to live off the government dole.

That’s not true at all. I’ve traveled to Scotland a number of times over the past 20 years, and I’ve had some really great experiences and met some really great people.
That’s good to know. Maybe I’ve had the bad luck to meet and converse with the wrong people.
Scotland used to be a soundly Christian nation. What happened?
Scotland wants freedom from the UK, but NOT the EU.
That should tell you everything you need to know about Scotland.
They clearly don’t make Scots like they used to.
