I know I will get flamed however(I am a grandmother), any woman raising 7 children correctly will not take a position where one is not present, whether literally or figuratively.

It just cannot be done - something has to give way and it most likely would be the children. Having some one else raise them doesn’t work out that well, even though we are told the opposite.

These women who have high powered careers allow their children to be raised by nannies. They think they can do it all, but reality is reality. (Ivanka fits into this category). I know I am going to get clobbered here.

‘I will tell you this. Trump has a keen ability to size someone up, pretty fast.”

Then how come he got stuck with Sessions?

What the red flag for me on Kavanaugh ( beyond the Foster- Hillary mess) is that today on daytime Fox his former clerk was speaking highly of him and mentioned his charitable community resume. She mentioned his work with Catholic Charities....that’s a deal killer for me

No, she has not made any such decision. Were you opposed to Margaret Thacher and Sarah Palin and believe they should have stayed home and wiped noses?

I think if Barrett is named to the court, she’ll be another Kennedy or O’Connor. Maybe even another Souter.

Everything I’ve read about People of Praise indicates that, while it is theologically conservative, it’s politics are pretty liberal. It did grow out of the 60s counterculture.

She may restrict abortion, but she’ll probably be a squish on everything else.

well, not by me. your family comes first, especially when you are a married woman and your husband can support you financially.
My husband had the career b/c he knew i had his back, and I took care of our kids.

7 kids in the house is virtue signaling

In the old days it was a virtue, but I wouldn't go defending women around here. We want them barefoot, prego and in the kitchen. What's for dinner hun? [ouch, wham, "and I dare you to call the police and let them know that a you are a. a whimp and b. a jerk."]

Yup. He’s always spoiling for a fight. Fact is he “knows” he was elected only because he promised some conservative TEETH on the court. She’s the only one who has the stones.

The two K boys are Kennedy type head fakes bye DJT. On the short list as a small bone to the anti Trumpers and moderates.

Bingo. Being a lackey of Rove was and pushed by the Bushies is enough for me to disqualify him.

I agree. Sessions and Tillerson were wrong right out of the gate. And some of his key White House staff have been in and out like they were in a revolving door.

The Donald is an extraordinary businessman with a keen sense of deal making, but he shoots from the hip when hiring people. He's simply fired folks when they didn't turn out (usually, Sessions hanging around for political reasons) but he can't do that with a 46 year old SC appointee.

I hope he is slow and deliberate with this decision because we'll have to live with his decision for a good, long time.

“..your family coems first...”

I would not have much respect for this woman who would be leaving her children to be raised by others if she were nominated.

This is one of the reasons that I simply cannot stand Gillebrand (although it is certainly not the only reason).

Hiring others to raise one’s children is not a great thing although this society seems to think it is fine.

The more I read about Kethledge, the more I like him.

We do not need another Ivy Leaguer on the high court.

We do not need another female either. Three is too many as it is. Judge Amy strikes me as a lovely conservative lady, but she should be kept in reserve for RBG’s seat, which could come open as soon as Satan comes to claim the old witch. She could also do a tremendous amount of good right where she is — and if she ever gets a Supreme Court nomination, it should be for her legal mind, not her gender.

As I noted in another thread, there’s a certain karma about names, and Kethledge goes well with Gorsuch. You could almost make it into a tongue twister. I thought my surname was uncommon but Kethledge is super rare, according to my research. I was surprised to read that there may be about 3,000 Americans named Gorsuch.

Given that Palin’s kids did not turn out well, the argument makes itself.

Any woman who holds anything as a higher priority than raising her own children has non-traditional and unacceptable views.

These are lifetime appointments we are talking about, not someone who can be voted out of office in the next election. Having a person who is pro-family is vital given all the damage done by anti-family court rulings.

I predict it will be Kethledge or someone not on the short list on the basis of observing the politics around the candidates.

As the Dems fully intend to go nuclear no matter which candidate it is, Trump will pick the best one. Which is not Kavanaugh and not Barrett, and I trust Trump will easily recognize that in both cases.

Kethledge would be a good conservative justice. Barrett would be a terrible mistake. Kavanaugh would likely be David Souter.
