Even so, the posters here are being petty with the comments.

Some, yes.

Later in the day, Starbucks announced it reached a financial settlement with the men.
The amount was not disclosed, but the chain said Robinson and Nelson will be given
the opportunity to complete their undergraduate degrees through a Starbucks
partnership with Arizona State University.

They will be able to earn their bachelor’s degrees with their tuition fully covered,
Starbucks said.

“settle the dispute by HELPING OTHERS”

there is more to the story than being told here.

No way the lawyers did this for $ 0.33

Let me try again. I screwed up the posting about the timeline.

snip
At 4:37, a female employee at the Starbucks called the police to report “two
gentlemen in my cafe that are refusing to make a purchase or leave.” Officers
arrived at the Starbucks 4:41, according to the tape. At 4:44, officers
requested backup and a supervisor for “a group of males causing a disturbance”
inside the Starbucks. Dispatch sent additional backup at 4:45.

At 5 p.m., the officers were en route to their headquarters with two arrests.

I’m sure some Freepers will automatically make the leap that they pocketed ‘millions’ . . .

The three Duke lacrosse kids collected about $55 million. Players who were NOT ARRESTED also got large payoffs, I doubt there were a lot of Freepers calling that outrageous.

I still think it’s weird no one ever tracked down the clerk who made the call. The whole thing had the feel of a set-up.

What’s the statute for:

sitting at a Philadelphia Starbucks without ordering anything

"...tracked down the clerk..."

She was the store manager. She got dragged through the mud by their CEO, called a racist, and terminated.
The audio tape of her call to police indicates she was calm, deliberate, well-spoken, and explained they had been loitering.
She referred to them as “gentlemen” while speaking to dispatchers. No anger and no slurs.

There’s money to be made in faux victimization. Flood gates are open now.

It’s Philadelphia, not Boca Raton.
Why does EVERYTHING need to be one race versus the other?

You don't think there are any white people left in Philadelphia?

And did you overlook the fact that this entire Starbucks fiasco is race based?

Started by two black men who complained they thought they were being singled out because of their race?

And did YOU overlook the fact I said I DID the SAME THING at Starbucks and no one ever approached me? You’re the perfect example of why this site is drifting further away from what it was so great at, a place to find articles and blogs we can read . . . now it’s nothing but a hate fest.

And a place where NO ONE can feel empathy for a victim, it’s ALWAYS either the ‘black guy’s fault’ or ‘what about us whites’?

They WERE profiled, if not I would have been asked to leave too . . . it’s a pretty simple premise to me.

I didn’t see any of the normal attempt to race bait or sensationalize BY THE TWO who were arrested.

They showed a lot more maturity about this than a number of the commenters on this thread.

"...I DID THE SAME THING IN BOCA RATON..."

What occurs in one retail location is not precisely the same as what happens in another retail location. Business is dynamic.
While certainly not a defender of the leftwinger Starbucks company, I am mindful when some manager/kid is being hung to dry.

Savvy managers recognize their store will have decreased business and decreased profitability if non-customers are permitted to loiter.
These two men could have peacefully resolved the situation (or prevented it entirely) with the simple purchase of a small cup of coffee.

Happy to report that in the future they can pay for all the “protection money” they want without my help.

0.01%. That’s how it works. More money in deciding who gets what than receiving the funds. Department of education is an example.
