No wonder she looks so much like Laurie Metcalf.
"There's something about this particular cultural moment that should explain why nostalgia thrives. Times are scary, y'all. In the midst of all the political and cultural turmoil, these revivals are comforting. But that's what makes the Roseanne reboot so distinct in the trend," wrote Kevin Fallon, a senior entertainment reporter at The Daily Beast.
"It's not seeking to distract from that unrest. It wants to expose it, parse it, challenge it, debate it, and, usually, just hang it out there naked to make us all uncomfortable."

From ew.com:
"The revival of Roseanne premiered to massive ratings Tuesday night."
"The return delivered an incredible 18.2 million viewers along with an equally impressive 5.1 rating among adults 18-49."
"According to ABC, this is the highest-rated comedy telecast on any network in nearly four years (since a premiere episode of CBS The Big Bang Theory from 2014)."
Its hilarious how Donald Trumps victory makes for scary timesnot terrorism or North Korea. Its all over the comic page, with the Pearls Before Swine guy beating it like a dead horse. GSN has an ad with people saying, I cant watch the news anymore. Its too depressing. But, I can retreat to the safety of game shows. Pathetic. They didnt have anything like this when Obama was fundamentally destroying America.
Last sentence - totally agree.
We recorded and watched this afternoon. Pretty good. Boy in a plaid skirt ... I could live without that.
Wow! Thanks for the info.
Trump Derangement Syndrome has overwhelmed the morons.
Bullying seems to be an important issue. Libiots bullying Trump supporters, the Parkland shooting happening because of bullying.
I thought comedies were supposed to be funny.
Haven’t watched a sitcom since Happy Days.
.... pretty funny when she arrived with that on her head.
Love your perspective.
Which side did the Sara Gilbert character take? I cant imagine her being anything but hardcore left in real life.
Saras wife was a writer on Chuck, which was a great show.
That was a riot. The whole thing was pretty funny. Roseanne got some good digs in. It would be amazing if the show were a hit; people could learn things they’d never hear otherwise, possibly.
Trump Derangement Syndrome has overwhelmed the morons.

I had someone tell me prior the show that the idea was to show how divisive PDT has made ‘us’.
I had planned on watching it anyway but that line cinched it as I had heard a completely different idea elsewhere.
I think they handled the kid well - seeing as how the ‘old Roseanne’ did take on ‘issues’.
At least the kid isn’t some kind of simpy BUT a little of that gig goes a long way.
Haven’t seen anybody mention R’Annes remark about SHE WILL HAVE THE KID AND I WILL KIDNAP IT etc etc which I take as a slam at abortion.
As the the PDT idea of bringing disharmony, the original RoseAnne would argue over the color of the sky etc so the mayhem is/was nothing new....
Will probably try a couple of more episodes (I never watched a ‘new’ in the original series but saw the reruns up to when they jumped the shark and won the lottery.(This is the first I ‘knew’ about the ‘dream’...hmmmm
OH...notice at the end that the ‘sisters’(J & RA) were bosom buddies again

Yep.
By the way, ABC is going to replay it on Easter Sunday, believe it or not.
ABC will re-air the two-episode premiere of the revived 'Roseanne' on Easter Sunday, after it scored huge ratings on Tuesday night.
Probably he’s more transvestite than transgender. He said he’s a boy; he just likes wearing girls’ clothes.
