Imagine if he had the training of today’s athletes. Recall, the first time he ran track in HS, he mopped up the entire field without a single day of training and it wasn’t a photo finish.
What “training” is taat? Steroids?
"Here and there, there are some people who are supremely endowed. My memory goes back to Jim Thorpe. He never practiced in his life, and he could do anything better than any other football player I ever saw."
Jim Thorpe was repeatedly described as the best football player of the century.
He played big league baseball and basketball, professional football (where he drew huge crowds) and had a winning record as a professional boxer.
With that being said, 22 year old Mikaela Shiffrin is on track to surpass 33 year old Vonn with already 39 world cup victories compared to Vonn's 78.......
Anabolic steroids were not around at that time. Caffeine was about it.
Who cares what this loser snowflake who disrespects the President of the US says about anything? Shut up and ski. Maybe that should be shut up and fall. Loser. Has been.
Most of the modern “training” is crap.
Boxers used to fight 45 round fights.
Now they fight 12 round “championship” fights.
Heavyweights Jack Dempsey and Jess Willard (6’6 1/2”) used 5 ounce gloves in their 1919 title fight.
Today lightweights use 10 ounce gloves.
I agree, somewhat, but, the records for timed events, height, and distance have been reset many times since the old days. That has to tell you something. 5 ounce gloves are very hard on the hands. I’ve personally knocked out 5 opponents with 16 ounce puff gloves when I weighed 170 lbs. As far as heavyweight boxers, Rocky Marciano was probably the best ever, IMHO. And no, I’m not Italian.
5 ounce gloves are very hard on the face of the opponent.
The pillows they wear today less so.
You haven’t commented on the steroids they pour into “athletes” today.
Anabolic steroids are banned, of course, and the testing methods are effective in detecting them. However, keep in mind in a short time the sexually disoriented are likely to be accepted as an exception. The dykes and queers that have the sexual disorder are put on steroids for the rest of their lives.
