My point was, if the FBI agents went so far as to interview the YouTube guy, then they absolutely should have followed up and discovered this guy’s pathology. It was then an FBI thing, and they dropped the ball.

The guy in the top photo looks NOTHING like the guy on the left or right bottom photos!! If you think they look the same, then I don’t know what you see. The guy in the top photo has dark brown eyes, a hooked schnoz with a bump (honker of a nose) if I ever saw one, and a cleft in his chin.

The guy in the bottom photos (same person) has hazel eyes, a prominent nose but no bump and no hook, and no chin cleft.

I tend to think these conspiracy theories are overblown by some factor although I would not want to dismiss every single instance, you could conceivably have rogue operatives in one case, while another potential case is actually just poor oversight and a third one is unforeseeable. There should be a low-profile top-level investigation from the administration of the FBI to see if any patterns can be uncovered. My hunch is that there have been isolated cases of manipulation rather than some FBI-wide conspiracy, but there’s no way to know from the outside. Somewhat related, the Las Vegas shooting seems to have all the hallmarks of an official cover-up of a much different reality. Paddock, as troubled and unpleasant a man as we know him to be, was not necessarily the real perpetrator of that event. But as to this rash of school shootings in the past two decades or so, I think we need to look at some of the violence cues out there, it’s fine to say we had this fifty years ago and few of our generation went to this extreme, but the culture nowadays is awash in much more graphic violence that is interactive rather than something you might passively watch with your parents, and it must be having an effect on the mentally unstable. America has 350 million people and I am guessing 20-30 million in the age range most likely to do these mass shootings, the idea that a thousand or more of them could be driven over the edge of insanity by external stimuli is hardly far-fetched, in fact, don’t you agree it’s a wonder there are not even more of these events? There are a lot of crazy and disturbed people out there, a culture that does nothing but egg them on, and drugs galore to complicate the situation.

I also believe that as with terrorism, a hidden component of all this violence is sexual repression or rejection. Guys who are getting laid on a regular basis have better things to do than go off on a shooting spree. And here again, our culture provides an endless call to be sexually active. Look at the calendar, there’s the biggest clue right there.

Having said all of the above, we can pretty much surmise that the threat is going to remain constant in the background of the school life of (North) America (we have had our instances of this in Canada, seldom on quite the same scale, but similar dynamics) — so the prevention is almost certainly vigilant security, because I doubt very much whether violent cues and over-sexed stimulation will go away for any reason any time soon, so we’re going to be living with a predictable number of such persons, add in the political dynamics that ease suitable candidates closer to the breaking point, and we know they are coming, so the answer is to intercept them (as with airport security). It sounds on first blush like a police or surveillance state but freedom has its price and also its responsibilities, if we want to be free in all these ways, we are going to have to accept a choice, either make the outcome a lottery or prevent it by force.

While the discussion is bound to center on the federal government and the president’s role, in reality this is almost entirely a problem for local governments even down to the municipal level and school boards acting in conjunction with law enforcement or whatever voluntary groups can assist. Arming teachers in America won’t work, they are almost all liberals. I’ve read some good suggestions in other threads about who could assist and that is probably the best response. It’s time to take a stand — gun control is not going to provide solutions either, in most cases these deranged individuals just take guns that other people have legally obtained.

I wasn’t arguing that they didnt drop the ball. They should never be. called unless it is a clear federal issue- and even then, it’s better for local police to handle the first contact.

Local police don’t do Internet. FBI does.

Wrong. A local police detective can and will use internet to look at what a person is posting.....AFTER a complaint is filed.

FBI will not look at a person's social media unless a case is opened, and only if there is a clear federal issue.

But this has less to do with an internet posting, and more to do with contacting local police and informing them of a public safety issue.

FBI is a bloated stovepipe organization filled with government workers looking to break cases that will advance their careers. They are geared towards counterintelligence, counterterrorism and major federal crimes. They are not looking for teenagers with mental issues.

he was not adjudged as such by a court or a medical professional.

you really want LE to lock up people on mere suspicion? are we throwing the BoR under the bus now?

if they used that standard, half of this forum would be under arrest for their “kill them all” comments.

There are emergency mental case laws that permit observation and diagnosis.

you refer to the Baker Act? If you read it you’ll find that

I used such a provision a few times in the military to get a review of a person. I was right each time.

It was obvious.

“The issue for me is making the schools impenetrable to shooters. Technology, scanning, concrete barriers, bulletproof glass, beefed up and armed security details doing rounds.”

All that’s missing is four guard towers and some razor wire.... now what do we have?

I now think anything is possible.

There are US federal employees in the hospital right now who sustained brain injuries while posted in Cuba.

‘Nobody’ knows the cause.

How could the FBI know about this and not do something about it. He apparently went through a background check to get the gun.

Still, its easier to shot this kid in the head as he’s walking up to the school in the parking lot than to believe taking guns from law abiding people. A lot easier.

You allow CCP holders to carry at work and these shootings go to zero. They don’t have school shootings in Israel, or armed criminal assaults of any kind. Most are armed.

This isn’t about facts, as you must well know. This is Operation Mockingbird in full effect.

The time for ‘frog boiling’ is over - the gradual creeping of the fedgov on our rights.

WHO just warned of what might happen if there wasn’t some sudden biological event. It was written almost like a threat.

If this goes wrong, there will be a depopulation event. I absolutely believe they have invented a means to rapidly depopulate large groups of people they intend to depopulate while being able to shield people they want to protect.

If it were me, I’d use a fungus. I’d put part of the genetic code into the crop genomes, and then put another part into the water supply of any population center I’d want to eliminate.

The fungus would attack the lungs quickly bringing on death within 24 hours from edema.

It would be incredibly hard to trace something like that after the fact, and the media would sell whatever you fed them that sounded plausible.

If it doesn’t kill quick, it really isn’t useful, and using an aerosol is out. Too easy to spot and track those kinds of deliver devices. Easier to use genetic engineering and a binary agent system. As long as people were eating, they’d be vulnerable.

Ultimately cleaner and more effective than a neutron bomb. You can innoculate your troops going in to clean up the bodies without them even knowing they were innoculated by giving them a shield agent in something like soda and making them wear gas masks (which would be for show only, since the air itself wouldn’t be a problem).

Sounds macabre, but clearly our ‘betters’ believe we have a population problem from an ECONOMIC standpoint. Too many people chasing not enough resources.

Take the population to a tenth of what it is today, or maybe a sixteenth, and they’d be happy. I can even see them using God as a justifier (The Great Flood). Even God wanted a do-over, right.

Anyway, its the only clean way to pull off a depopulation event and not have a pitchfork and torches problem. They want a Galt’s Gulch.

If they have a security wall/fence around schools, I’m ok with that. I’ve seen many businesses and organizations do the same.

Geraldo was having “a cow” last night on Fox, advocating, predictably, gun control rather than actual protection (armed good guy to kill armed bad guy). I had to turn the channel. He and Shep have no business commenting on anything.
Geraldo jumped right on using shot/killed/wounded school students to push his agenda which would no stop killers from getting guns but would restrict patriotic citizens from owning certain guns.

I had to click away from Fox News again today when a show called The Daily Briefing staring Never and Anti Trumper Dana Perino

With sidekick Shepard Smith.

What a rip-off.

Yea we know you are a butt buddy of the Bush Cartel and were the face of W's reign in the WH.

There is only one daily briefing worth watching and that is with Sarah H Sanders

It looks like eGOP'er Perino and Anderson Cooper impersonator Smith are auditioning for a gig at CNN or MSNBC.

What a couple of worthless commentators.

They should follow Megyn Kelly and SC Cupp to one of the fakenews propaganda stations.

:Years ago a school in Israel got shot up.

The Israelis immediately started giving guns to qualified teachers and the problem went away.

Geraldo Smith and Perino would all have "a cow" if we were to protect out kids with the same solution.

“Next, we need to reverse legislation that makes committal to an insane asylum a near impossible thing. It was common in my youth, but then the libs decided that wackos on the streetcorners was a good thing.”

And then, make it impossible for health insurance bean counters to refuse to pay for up to 3 days of hospitalization.

That’s the major problem.

Have you considered a career in the FBI?

With your keen insight and organized thinking, you would certainly rise to the top of that fine organization.
